Almost 10 years ago we started dating and just a few days ago, we got married. We got married at the school I graduated from. Yes, a school. Everyone questioned me when they saw the invites, but once they arrived, they were amazed at how beautiful it is.
We had 80 guests attend and in total we spent $11,000. We are more than happy with how everything went. Sure there were some hiccups (a groomsmen’s pants almost fell down because of a broken clip), but overall, it went smoothly.
We hired our amazing photographer for only $1,900 which included an engagement session, an assistant photog, 11 hours of shooting and rights to our pictures (which we got back just 3 days after the wedding). For all the photogs who say you can’t get an amazing photog for less than $2,000, I would like to beg to differ…
Anyway, for the recap…
I am so relieved it is all over and a little sad at the same time. It was a beautiful day…then the rain clouds came rolling in about 10 minutes before the ceremony. I threw a little fit about the weather (which I regret in retrospect) and the clouds were ominous. The day before it poured down rain (flooded lots of streams/rivers) and the day after it poured. Fortunately, it only sprinkled for about 15 minutes the entire day. I don’t know how it happened, but we are the luckiest couple around!
Overall, the evening was amazing. Our ceremony was short and simple, and we wrote our own vows. I am not a crier, but I got teary eyed when my husband (eek, first time writing that) read his vows. They were so sweet and sincere. We then enjoyed the rest of the evening eating, dancing and relaxing under the stars (and our lanterns).
I was so determined to have an outdoor ceremony and I did! My only regret is that we didn’t get enough OFF candles (some people got bit by bug bites). I also wish that I had eaten some of our delicious food, but unfortunately my stomach was in knots because I was worried about the weather.
I also want to thank all you bees for the support, ideas and feedback over the past 10 months while planning the wedding!
And for the photos…
