    We're August 14, 2010 too! I have the venue booked, but that is the only thing set in stone. I found my dress last week, but want to find it at a boutique closer to home to make the fittings easier. I'm a teacher so I want to get as much done as I can before school starts in September. I've started making favors and getting ideas together for the Save the Dates.

    Hey ladies! Another August 14th bride here! We're getting married in Nashville, TN. We just put deposits on the reception venue, and we've booked the church. Our colors are based on J Crew's spring wedding and parties line (champagne, blush, barely peach). My maids are going to wear the J Crew dresses in their choice of style/color with gold shoes of their choosing!

    Hi August 14th ladies! July is almost over - which means 1 year to go! I have my dress ordered, reception location picked out, our wedding party set, and colors.

    What are your colors in august? I was thinking Navy dresses but now I'm concerned the color may be too dark and hot for the girls... thoughts?

    This is the date I'm hoping for!!!  My fiance and I will be getting married in Sweden, where he is from, so I've been trying to plan as much as is possible.  Unfortunately, lots of Swedes like to vacation for long periods of time in the summer and they leave offices closed so we can't get a hold of anyone at the venue we are thinking of until August 1.

    Our colors are pink, yellow and orange. My girls are wearing pale yellow, I wanted something light and airy because it's an outdoor ceremony.

    Hey girlies congrats on the engagements.  Angel and I are also getting married this day.  On March 14th,, 2008 he officially asked me to be his girlfriend.  He says he didn't know how to ask and where things were going.  So every 14th of every month after then he has always brought me flowers.  And of course I saved them and I would like to incorporate the dried flowers into the wedding reception.  We knew the 14th was meant to be our anniversary forever.  We are getting married in Chicago at St. Mary of the Angeles, beautiful church.  Also the hottest month of the year.  So we like the idea of having fans at the church, no air conditioning) maybe with the names of our bridal party on it.  We booked the hall at DiNolfo's, a southern suburb dinolfosbanquets.com, which is absolutely spectacular with a grand staircase at the entrance and big windows from wall to wall with a terrace of to the side. I bought my dress at David's Bridal, the exact dress I had clipped out from Modern Brides.  We booked our photographer and videographer.  Our colors are red and black with damask prints.  I bought bites and pieces for our centerpieces, have the favor, invites, Save the dates, and card box ideas down.  So I am well under way and super excited.

    Hooray for date twins :)

    We are 99% set on this date, unless something financially catestrophic happens in the next month or so (i'm job hunting after a big move).  We already have our ceremony and reception location picked out- FI's stepfather owns a GORGEOUS bed and breakfast so it's a no brainer for us.  We have lots of ideas on paper but nothing really planned yet.  Colors.. thinking yellow and orange as well- something fun, light, and summery.  Once the date is totally solidified we're going to start working on the STDs.  It will be a 'destination' wedding for pretty much everyone in our friend/family circle so we want to give them as much notice as possible.

    Hope the planning is going well!

    farmerfen    14 August 2010   UK

    Just buzzing in to say a warm 'hellllooo' to my other 14 August 2010 twins. I'm farmerfen, an American living in UK, marrying my British hunnybunny of 5 yrs, planning a wedding weekend near to where we live (in Cambridge). Trying to achieve an event that's as elegant as the venue we've chosen, while also paying close attention to 'value-for-money' (we're both students & $/£ exchange cuts my parents' contribution in about half, eek!) and also trying to be both green and crafty because that's who & how we are :)

    Mr Farmerfen & I are both writing up our PhDs while planning this wedding...and if we get through it, phew, I do believe we'll be able to weather any storm! So far, we've managed to:

    -book a venue where everything will take place (service, drinks, meal, dance);

    -pay deposit (25% of 'everything' to be handled by venue);

    -assemble a guest list (187 people big, church holds 100, eek!);

    -visit two wedding dress shops (holysmokes, what an odd ritual...did you also think this?);

    -make an appt with a seamstress for early Sept;

    -visit a florist shop (freaked out quite a bit at prices, thinking of options);

    -and do some searching on options for wedding websites. (Lots available here on WB). Think we've decided we'll use iWeb to build our own, as don't want to be 'tied' to a wedding-only site, would instead like the site to grow with us. Also want site to have a personalised header picture and handle RSVPs (greener and cheaper)...and this seems a bit tough to find out there.

    Finding it a bit tough, actually, keeping my eyes on the marriage amidst all the wedding details...I suppose it's nothing others didn't experience, but still, a first for me, so I'm learning :)

    Happy planning, y'all

    xFarmerfen

    I've pretty much tried to get as many ideas as i possible can at this point. I know we're getting to the point where we actually get to do stuff soon-but I've just been looking at all kinds of inspiration on here & theknot. Pretty soon I'll start actually doing some of the things I see on here & get around to buying stuff.

    Just get a basic idea of the things you want-like my centerpieces-I decided what I want, but the small details of shapes & sizes & such keep changing :) Drives the FH crazy!

As of now, here's whate we have accomplished: bought my dress, booked church, booked venue, booked planner, chose florist...and changed our color palette! We went from muted gold/peach/blush to royal blue/teal/navy/gold. AHH so excited! It's like a peacock, but WAY better ;)

    YAY! August 14th is going to be such a happy day for all of us!

    I'm going to school, too, finishing my second degree...My last day of class is July 16th, so I have less than a month after I am finished before the wedding! I am trying to do as much stuff now so that I don't have to do anything until then though!

    So far I have:

    -Venue (easy, at my parents place looking over the water)

    -Caterer & Menu picked (steak & salmon, yum!)

    -Dress

    -Photographer

    -Cabins reserved (parents live in a small town with no hotels, so we reserved as many cottages as we could for my fiances family. The cabins are no more than 5 mins from the wedding location)

    -People hired to park cars and sober drive people back to their cabins!

    Decided on but not booked/ordered are: tent rental, porta potty rental (the nice ones), flowers, invitations, DJ, favours, bridesmaid dresses, and the guys tuxes!

    This is our date too! Smile

    So far, we have deposits down on our ceremony and reception site. We also have our photographer booked and have taken our engagement pictures. I have a lot of great ideas, but i haven't even tried on a single dress yet. I feel like I need to know what my dress will look like before I can plan a whole lot else. So... Dress shopping is definately next on the to do list!

    Yeah I am a date twin too! I have been on weddingbee for a long time, but just realized that this part existed!

    @farmerfen  You and I are very similar! I am an American living abroad too (SPAIN) and have been with my FI for 5 years too (nearly 5.5)! We've decided though instead of getting married in Spain to get married in NY.

    We are 9 months away girls!!!!!!!!

    SO far we've:

    -booked and put a down payment on a venue

    -booked the photographer

    -made my own STDs and sent them out

    -bought my dress and it's getting fixed at the seamstress

    -bought my mantilla

    -booked a DOC

    -purchased favors

    -bought vases and candles, etc for decorations

    -have 2 columns and a birdcage for the ceremony

    ....

    Continue trekking along ladies!

    Me too August 14th. Toronto Canada. We have picked a Paris theme as I love to travel and my fiance is French Canadian. Booked my venue, my ceremony site -outdoors... picked Chocolate Champagne with Red/Coral highlights as our colors...dress- got it last month its out for alterations..working on the Save the Dates and also my sisters invites as she will be married June 2010- and im her maid of honor - so it will be a busy year LOL. Bought the Fleur de Lis lanterns for the tables...phewwwww. a lot in a month since i started...

    Just sent out the email requesting all my facebook friends addys who will be invited, and working on the in laws for all their addys for that side too. Id start this out soon ppl as it takes forever to collect all the addys with long distance and all. (all my guests are pretty far from me in Toronto. Id say at least 85-90% are 1 -4 hours drive!)

    Im also building my cupcake stand myself with wood and its coming along beautifully :-) 5 tier with all routered adges and a pearl ivory paint with stenciled deco flowers.it will be gorgeous! I am a total DIY bride with a crazy mind hahahaa.

    take care!

    Yay for August 14th!!! This is actually the day of month that we started dating.. so now the SO only has to remember a different month. (c:

    We're both big planners, or maybe I just am and push him along, but we have:

    our venue, photographers, caterer, DJ, my dress and entire outfit, cake toppers, STDs done, and other random projects to tackle here and there.

    We're getting married outside at sunset with a black, ivory and shades of blue wedding. i can't wait!

    Good luck to you all! (c:

    As of Sunday, I'm also an 8/14/2010 bride! yay! So far we've booked the ceremony and venue site, taken engagement photos, picked colors, bought bridesmaids dresses and my shoes! I actually purchsed my shoes in 2007! (crazy, I know).

    When are all of you planning on registering (if at all)? We were going to do it a few months ago, but after reading somewhere that a lot of registry items tend to go out of stock if registered for too early (like a year or earlier) we decided to put it off.

    Anyways, Congratulations everyone! It's great reading about other brides but it's even better reading about other brides with the same date! Laughing

    @Ms. Sapphire - I think we are going to register in March or early April. I originally thought we would register around Christmas and just put a few things on there in case someone wanted to get us a gift off the registry but there is no time! I have also heard that waiting till at least February is good for a spring/summer wedding because lots of items are put on sale after the Holidays but by the end of January stores have newer stock in.

    I registered already. We did BB&B, walmart, & kohls. I know I've had to check to make sure everything's still there though. I'm sure I'll have to go back & update! :)

    Sending out STDs in January too! after all of the holiday mail rush! Almost down to 8 months!

    Hello date twins! I just got engaged on 11/14/09. My aunt just passed away and my fiance's mom had heart surgery, so we've had a little hiatus with planning. So far we have our church booked and are signing our contracts on our reception site, photographer and florist. I'm reviewing bands, pricing hotel blocks and have been working on our wedding website. I'm about ready to order our save the dates. We are getting married in DC but my mom lives 1500 miles away so I'm waiting for the holidays to go dress shopping (we were going to go over Thanksgiving, but my aunt passed away unexpectedly).

    We are going with navy formal evening gowns and white tie. I want my attendants to pick out their own dresses, but a lot of them would rather I pick them out. I'm doing navy in honor of my parent's colors, but different flowers: all hydrangeas: light blue, bright blue, purple, light green and dark green. My bouquet will have some green roses and the centerpieces will have some bells of Ireland and green roses.

    I'm excited to start planning again after a few stressful weeks.
