Any August brides?? Would love to hear ideas and where you are with the planning process!!
I'm an August 2010 Bride! :o) I have the venue booked + paid, the caterer 1/6 paid, the florist booked and we are still cringing on booking our overpriced DJ. I'm still working on getting my dress but I FINALLY think I know what I want.
How are you doing?
Yay finally met an August bride!! Pretty ahead of the game we are. The church and venue are booked now for a while. We also have a photographer, my dress with some accessories and a DJ booked. (Just booked the DJ yesterday!) Feeling pretty ahead of the game and we are hoping by the end of the year to have transportation, flowers and to start looking at possible places for invitations. What are your colors? We are doing purple (bridesmaid dresses are "african violet") and incorporating complimenting colors like greens, blues, yellow etc. We like color
Very nice, our color scheme is a mix of pink, coral, burgundy and brown. It looks awesome. Here's our palate. It works beautifully for the Sedona red rock. Both our Photographer and Invite Diva (MOH) are in the family so it makes that very easy going! :)
I'm an August bride!
I have quite a bit done:
Locations for ceremony & reception
Photographer

Caterer (comes with reception location)
Colors- hot pink & light yellow
Most gift ideas & some DIY ideas

Oh god! I am an August 2010 bride (or trying to be!!) and have NOTHING yet. Am trying to secure a church/venue right now and have pretty much finalized the guest list, i.e., size of the wedding, but aside from that there have been no other vendors secured.
* ATTEMPTING TO BREATHE *
boy do i feel like a slacker. i'm an august 2010 bride also, but i have the venue and a dress...that's it! and we are planning on making our own invites, also in the works but certainly not checked off the list. am i a bit ambitous in thinking i can get most everything squared away by the christmas holiday? how long have you all been planning? i'll admit that early in our engagement i didn't do a darned thing.
I've been engaged since Valentine's Day. I did a lot over the summer since I'm a full time student until May. I figured it would be hard to do some wedding stuff while I'm taking 6 classes!
I did pick out invites & we'll be having FSIL/BM be doing the programs with me.
August 2010 Bride AND this is my first post on Wedding Bee! (Though I've been stalking the site for eons). Wahoo!
Only JUST started planning. MexiPieLove, we are in the same boat! I have nada, nothing, zilch! We have a 'sort of' guest list and that's about it. I've been to a few locations, but everything is out of our budget or just not "us." Plus, there are a whole host of fun family twists and turns that I look forward to exploring on Wedding Bee. I'm already feeling stressed. Oh well, I'm getting married on my grandmother's wedding day! She only had 5 days to plan, so I'm sure I can do it in 10 months. At least I hope so...
@pmerr I feel you're pain! I'm in my last year of graduate school for my Au.D. (Doctorate in Audiology) and I designate certain Saturdays for wedding planning and time in between patients at clinic to make important calls. :o)
Hi all!! Well I feel like the reason we have alot done is because we got engaged September of 2008 so its been a year so far of being engaged. I am trying to get something done off the list each month. We organized it to get the main things checked off right away and then work our way down from there. It definitely is hard working full time and wedding planning! My goal is if I start early with things I won't be a maniac when the wedding is closer. I am grateful to have a FH who wants to be involved.
8/21/2010 and I've booked venue (which includes catering), photographer, coordinator, officiant (brother-in-law) and I just found my dress this past weekend. I've found my invitation designer and florist, but won't move forward with the former until next month and the latter until early next year. The fiance is supposed to find the DJ soon so that's the only other piece that has me worried.
I think we're pretty ahead of the game. My best friend planned her wedding in 6 months.
@betagrl--- it's nice being ahead of the game! Glad to see I am not alone.. planning has been kind of emotional due to my mother being deceased and having bridesmaids who are all going through so much drama that I have just been feeling guilty talking to them about anything. My MH is my only sister and she is young (18) so this is her first wedding really. And I must say that my FH is the one who initially found the photographer and DJ and he did a good job :)
@staci21 - you know, I feel like we're getting the biggies out of the way and then I don't know what I'm supposed to do next? I'm sure it's the little things that are totally going to trip me up.
yes i agree betagrl!! I guess I'll conquer them as i come across them :) I'm trying to decide on a DIY for the box for the cards..
@ladybug- that's a pretty good idea! I try to look for stuff everyday, but then I never get around to any homework! :) A Saturday or Sunday would be great to spend doing work on the wedding!
I'm an August bride too! I just keep following my month by month planner and so far am on target! :) We have a venue/caterer, photographer, booked the florist, pretty much designed our invites to be printed...and currently in the works of deciding on BM dresses. Being a grad student while planning a wedding can be somewhat distracting...to say the least!
yeah...i really need to get into keeping a checklist & following it! :)
Wow! Everyone seems to be really ahead of the game! I still have not registered and I think we are going to do that after the holidays. Next things to accomplish are transportation and florist then invitations. I use a wedding planner that i found at barnes and nobles and it is great!! it breaks everything down for me and i love the ideas it gives.
@staci21 What's the name of the planner book? :) It could be helpful!
The name of the book i am using is "Easy Wedding Planning Plus" by Elizabeth and Alex Lluch. I have other planners when i was first engaged but they were just about how to search for vendors and stuff and not really what i should be doing. My book i love because i can photocopy the pages easily also!
oh yeah! I did the registry too! but I do got to go back & edit it & add some more for the holidays!!
Thanks for telling us the book!
No problem!!! There are soo many to choose from but I seemed to like this the best. I also organize all my papers in an accordian filer. It's great and my friends all love how i use my label maker! 10 months will fly by for sure :)
I was just looking around online-where did you get it from & what does it look like? there are tons of editions!
I can't wait for the next 10 to fly! The first 8 have flown for me!
mine has a pink cover and a woman's hand holding a bouquet of flowers. The book i have is binded together by a plastic binding.... it is the 7th edition :) just saw that in the book. hope it helps!!
Thank you for recommending that wedding planning book! Its so hard to find a good one! :o)
I'm actually just using the Real Simple Weddings book...there are check lists for everything in it!!! And they give you fairly practical advice etc...oh and budget sheets, plus pretty inspiration :) And its cheap!
We'll be getting married on August 21st, 2010 and I'm soo excited!
I don't have too much done yet b/c I'm in school fulltime right now and working...so unfortunatley wedding plans have taken the back burner.... Plus my fiance is over in Sweden right now finishing up his Masters.
We have our venue booked, I have gone dress shopping a little bit, and I think I've found 'the one', I've started designing our invites, we have our officiant booked, but I think thats it. Hopefully after this semester I'll have a little bit more time to focus on the details!
Cool! I'll have to look at the real simple website. I just bought the other book & I already have theknot's book, I don't think I need a 3rd right now! haha!
The real simple website has all the worksheets/charts/lists that are in the book, so def don't bother if you already have two others. I have it, and while they do offer some practical advice, I'm sure yours would suffice. I'm pretty sure everything that's in the book is on the site.
Yeah. I looked around & there's tons to print out! I'll probably look around there to add to my huge collection. I have a ton! I have stuff from tons of websites printed out! it's all over the place! Stuff from www.russellandhazel.com have some great planning stuff too!
I am definitely going to check out Real Simple's website and see what I can print out. I love having charts and stuff because i feel so much at ease being organized. I am a visual person and need to see things in order so i know what to do next. August 29th will be here before i know it and i am determined to keep my cool through it all and enjoy the planning!!
@pmerr--good luck with the book! Let me know how you like it. Hope you get lots of use out of it as i am!
yeah- I like to look at everything on paper & such. The next 10/9 months will fly by!
Thanks about the book! I'll let you konw when I get it & how it goes!
