eck! I just realized that it is February!
lets see...
* booking an officiant... (we are talking with a relitive or step relative on my aunts... but between her busty schedule and my FI being out of the state most of the winter we've been having a hard time hooking up... she said the last week of Feb was fine for her, so hopefully my FI's work doesn't extend his trip!)
*working on invites... (I am DIYing. Invites on linen fabric which is mostly preped for printing on. Now onto the pocket folds and finanlizing the wording and design)
*I am diying it up this month! My FI is in NC until the end of the month... So I am going to try to keep myself busy! I found cute purses at DSW on clearance to glam up for my Jr BM's and FG. I have shoe clips to make, banners, kids activity books and I'm sure I will come up with more!
we are:
-having a tasting at our venue!
-meeting with our decor/flower people together to figure out our "look"
-going shoe shopping with the bridesmaids
-meeting with an invitation company here in my town
I think that is all I can think of for now!
everything that we have left i wish to get done before feburary is over!
- get our invite wording decided & send it to our designers
- book the videographer we fell in love with before someone else snatches him for our date!
- make a stop into heimes habadashery where the men are getting their suits from to figure out what the next step is.. measurements, pricing etc for our groomsmen. colors picked tho!
- decide which company we want to rent our linens from
- finally figure out who we would like to use for cakes! i cant bear to go to any more tastings, i wish id find someone already and just be like "YES! WE NEED YOU!"
- shoes for my dress
&& really thats all there is left! eeeep!
Last month:
-Ordered and received my invites
-Started solidifying my decor and DIY plans and started shopping around for supplies for escort cards, centerpieces, table numbers, etc.
-Picked up my dress (today!)
-Started shopping for (and ordered a few) bridesmaid gifts
-Started browsing for registry items
This month:
-More shopping for decor and DIY materials, get started on some of the projects (probably the escort cards and card box first)
-Call bakery to get things rolling with the cake plans
-Work on building the wedding website
-Contact hotels to inquire about blocking some guest rooms
-Start collecting guest addresses for the invitations
-Make second deposit to venue (that one's no fun...)
-Pester FI about menswear plans (whoops, how'd that one get in there...)
This month we have/will:
- booked our florist (just signed our contract yesterday!!)
- choose our cake design/and baker (we are getting 2 quotes and proposal from 2 different bakers)
- go shopping with my ladies to choose and order their dresses
- we meeting with our venue to food tasting and choose our menu
- once the menu is confirmed, I will finalize the RSVP cards (our invitations are ready, I just need to order them from the designer with the RSVP cards)
- finish working on our wedding website
- my dress was suppose to come in in January but it's not here yet
. Hopefully it will come in in the next week or so. 1) I want to try it on again and 2) I'll need to pay the balance.
This thread just made me sick! lol! I've realized how much I still need to get done :(
This month we are finishing up the catering. All the rental items are booked. Talking with the florist this month. Trying to find a good tailor in this tiny town of mine to alter my dress.
I'm pretty much all planned!! I'm so surprised I'm so on top of things. All of our vendors are booked and deposits paid.
This month I have to figure out invite/program/place card designs and order them and we have our cake tasting on 2/11. I also need to schedule a hair trial now that I have my veil and headband.
We have pre cana next month and I need to get all my church documents in order.
@HueysLuda: I understand how you feel.... I went through the "sickness" lol in Dec and Jan. You can only do one thing at a time
If it's getting bad, maybe ask FI, or some close friends to help.
For me, the hardest is anything to do with the invitations, guest list, etc. That's hard work!!! In close 2nd is the website because I have to translate everything since our wedding is bilingual. But, only one thing at a time, it will get done.
I feel on top of things till I read this, lol. Last month I started some DIY projects, 2 chalkboards from old windows, one will be "Our Love Story", not sure on the 2nd one, possibly bar list or on the Guest Book Table. Also made super cute ball jar mugs with chalkboard paint on the front of each so we can write our wedding party's names on them. <3 them.
I am designing my own invites and have a design started that I'm fairly sure i'll be using... so just need to finish those 100% and then start ordering supplies to put them together, will probably hold off on that till March. I also need to design our programs, a thank you card/mad lib card for each seating, and labels for our jam favors.
I am going on a 2nd trip looking for bridesmaids dresses on Sunday - having a hard time picking a dress!
Also have to decide on linens for the tables... have a company I've contacted so need to meet and decide on colors, etc./put a deposit down.
And then from there, just lots more DIY projects! Shoes & jewelry & gifts for bridal party.
@Missido: Yep, I think I will enlist the help of others. With my surgery taking place in Jan. I really lost some ground. I'm working on a plan to take control of everything left to do. One thing at a time :)
We've done a lot already, but I'm trying to keep things simple. So this month we are:
-choosing invitations
-paying for the church (though it is already reserved)
-working on centerpieces
-buying a money/card box
Bridesmaid fitting is scheduled for March 3rd, even though I have the dress already picked out. They just have to try on and find out their size :)
This month:
Yea, that's the plan anyway. My excuse when I don't get it done is that it's a short month :)
Last month I feel like we got so much of the major stuff out of the way!
- Chose invitation design.
- Decided upon a caterer, worked out details.
- Decided upon a photographer, worked out details.
- Went to the tailor to get measured for my custom dress, yay!
- Created our registries
- Finally got the permit for our venue!
This month we will:
- Make deposits for caterer and photographer.
- Recieve proof from printer of our invitation design, and hopefully have them done by the end of the month!
- Order more of the decor for the reception.
I guess that we're kind of going to have a lull in doing stuff after putting in a lot of work in January and December! I am getting so excited now that all the major decisions (read: major stresses) are out of the way!
last month I :
Picked up my dress (yayyyy)
finalized invitations (just haven't printed them off yet)
ordered bridesmaid dresses
paid deposit on a limo
Discussed vision with florist (gave us a great deal since he's a family friend)
Discussed vision with decorator and paid deposit
Finished our wedding website
bought a crap load of things on Etsy (inviation stamp, photo props, guestbook materials, ring holder, personalized silverware etc) .. haha FI always sneaks a peek and asks... what are you buying now ....
This month I have or plan on :
Found my shoes last night!
meeting with the cake person next week
want to start collecting addresses for invitaiton
want to start working on memory table numbers that I have envisioned
taking dance lessons :) We took one 5 lesson session before Christmas, and we're going to do another one this month. So fun!
I know there's probably more.. but I feel pretty on the ball at this point! There are friends of mine getting married before me who don't have half of what I have done.. so all in all, I'm pretty relaxed with everything.
Since I wanted to make sure I got exactly the vendors I wanted I booked EVERYTHING major within the first 2 months of being engaged. Because of this we have been very stagnent since November.
It was a stellar day! I picked out my wedding dress this morning after a painless bridal store experience and then later found my shoes at TJ Maxx $40. Navy blue wedges (easier to walk during the outside ceremony!)
Still need to: Confirm the officient and book; finalize invitations, selecrt musicians for cerenony. I feel like I am on a wedding role! May it continue!
So excited, we booked our honeymoon to St. Lucia last night!! We're going for 7 nights 8 days and staying at the Sandals Grande resort.
Now that the honeymoon is booked, next up is booking a florist (I have an appt next week to meet with one). I thought I wanted silk flowers, but changed my mind. Then we need to pick out a flower girl dress, order wedding bands, figure out tuxes for FI and the groomsmen, and figure out what I want to do for centerpieces.
After we book a florist, everything else is pretty much done, it's just the little stuff now.
I realised today that I have 6months to go and ordered my invites... and sat thinking all day at work what I still had to do! flowers, my information from my church to be sent... and kept thinking I'm missing something.... just hoping it will all come together
Think I am going to make all the calls on saturday to confirm the caterer, club, mes outfits.... oh it is all coming fast...Oh the rings and city hall... oh boy... CHECKLIST!!
We booked the officiant last week. Next up is makeup artist and I'm about to start ordering samples for the invites I want to (gulp) design. We priced out rings two weeks ago and will be back after we get our tax refunds to put the deposits down.
I want to start working on our music selections and ask FI what he plans on wearing!
Last month was a good month for me..
This month I am going to..
For March:
- I have ordered the invitations yesterday. Woooo!
- The last of my 5 bridesmaids has chosen her dress. All bridesmaids dresses = ORDERED.
- We are finalizing our registries next weekend.
- I am working on our website.
- Choosing suits/tuxes for guys.
For march:
Finish invitations! ~ probably going to print the main invite later this week
Get suits ordered
DIY's- frames to paint, glasses to color, kids activity books
start dieting again! Im afraid that I gained back all the weight that I lost!
For March my big tasks were to order the tuxes and invitations. Tuxes are done, now I'm just working on nailing down my wedding timeline so I can get the invites ordered with right times on them!
I don't use the knot for much, but I do like the checklist they have. I have been following it to the letter so hopefully I am not forgetting anything!
@SouthernCJ: I use The Knot just for their checklist, too! It seems the most comprehensive. I have a wedding binder at home that I used to keep my contracts and ideas in, but it seems like the checklist in it is missing a lot.
This month I am:
-Calling bridal salon about tuxes and get FI and groomsmen fitted.
-Make sure I have collected everyone's address.
-Look for flower girl dress and sash.
-Work on addressing invitations (I'm doing this all by hand, UGH, I don't know what I was thinking..)
-Going to menu tasting at our venue.
I'm sure I'm forgetting more to do... but this is what I can think of right now. I'm not sure how much I'll get done, though. Between work and nursing school, I have been really busy. I graduate in 2 months, so my focus is more on school right now.
I got a lot done this last month. Everything is pretty much done, just have to wait for things to come in. Our flowers won't arrive until July but other than that our centerpieces are done.
We ordered chair covers for the church. Bridesmaids are taken care of. Bought our invitations, just need to print and send :)
By the end of March I want to have:
Sent out invites - done!!
Booked a photographer - we're in final conversations with one.
Booked hair -almost complete
At least start looking at menus, florist, decorations and cake
Lose some weight so I can fit in to my dress, eek!!!
(Reviving thread)
Oh dear, I haven't done everything on my March 'to do' list, and it's past the end of April... Eeeek!!!
We have booked a photographer, florist and DJ.
New to do list for May:
Decorations, cake, menus, make up, honeymoon!!
Oh, and lose a little weight of course...
What are you all up to?
I think I'm doing well, until I see my list LOL
-waiting for my ring, flowers and dress to arrive (all ordered, just have to endure the wait)
-print and mail invitations
-create seating chart
-marriage license
-hair/makeup trial (this Friday)
-book honeymoon
Can't believe it's less than 4 months away. I am so excited!
