Hope everyone is feeling good today. I'm feeling really gross and sluggish, and I'm really dreading having to go pick up my nieces today. I just want to curl up and sleep. Ah well, hopefully the walk will make me feel better.
Wow, we already have a part 2 :) Thanks FutureMrsMcK! I see what you were saying about the black space on the ultrasounds (I was able to load the thread with photos last night), I guess you are right! The twin thing definitely throws a kink in my "black space = uterus" theory ;)
I'm feeling okay today, tired and heartburn-y as usual. I never took Tums in my life before getting pregnant, now I think I ought to buy stock in the stuff!
@Mrs Sarah McK: Thanks for strarting a new thread!
I'm feeling tired and blah today too. Have been falling asleep by 8:30pm on the couch and then waking up at 5am. Ugh. I haven't had much nausea this week (knock on wood) but have noticed that I get full really quickly and feel sick if I eat too much. NOt much else to report here. I'm telling my supervisors tomrorow about the pregnancy so wish me luck!
@chastenet: Well it wasn't strictly the amniotic sac like I thought it was either...I think we were both right, in degrees.
@orvis18: Good luck on telling your supervisors!
I'm feeling moderately better after my walk. It's a little less than a mile and a half one way to pick up my niece and a neighbor girl from school, so I'm getting around 2.5-3 miles of walking in a day. Which is really good since I have zero interest in exercising right now. Or eating*. Or doing anything but sleeping.
*Except peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I could eat them all the time.
@Mrs Sarah McK: Yay Part #2! Also, my due date was changed to Aug 14th at my first ultrasound.
@orvis18: Yikes! Good luck telling work tomorrow. I'm super nervous about that for some reason....probably because it will make everything so much more real since the majority of my day is spent with my coworkers! Haha. I plan to tell some coworkers that I'm close with next Tuesday (we have a meeting after school). Not sure when I'm going to go "public" with it at work, though!
Overall, I've been feeling MUCH better this week. I feel like I'm slowly getting my energy back, which is fantastic because I was getting sick of being exhausted all the time! I still haven't had much for morning sickness, thankfully. I just feeling yucky if I let my belly get empty, so I'm working on snacking throughout the day to keep that yuckiness away! Over the weekend, we went out to dinner Fri and Sat, and I had AWFUL bloat both nights...like serious pain, so I'm thinking eating late isn't a good thing for me.
Oh, and I'm going to try to upload my ultrasound pic again since it didn't seem to work at the end of the last thread. Here's our little nugget at ~8 weeks:

@bunnylovesbear: Shoot, I think I knew your date had changed, but for some reason didn't change it on my master list. I'll fix it at the next posting, sorry!
And hello Baby bunnylovesbear!
@bunnylovesbear: Awe! Must be the ultrasound resolution because I see a ressemblance to Baby T ;) Good to hear your energy is coming back, hopefully it won't be much longer for the rest of us who are still uber-tired.
@Mrs Sarah McK: That is awesome that you are getting so much walking in! I'm not so interested in exercising myself. Because I live in a big city and don't own a car I am pretty active and walk alot, but I should definitely be doing more...One of these days I'm going to buy a swimsuit so I can swim laps.
I've been having nausea/morning sickness fun since hitting 7 weeks. So far, I've thrown up three times. Once was today after being at my professional meeting. I think I may have had too much to eat or waited too long to eat. Either way, it came back up. I used SeaBands for the first time today. They made me feel normalish. I did in fact have a UTI and am taking antibiotics right now. I had a bout of diarrhea on Sunday night. I talked to my doctor and she said that it's normal. I just have to keep up with yogurt and carbs. My first prenatal appointment is Thursday. I can't wait to see the heartbeat! I keep praying that the baby's growing strong with each week.
@Mrs Sarah McK: No worries at all. I'm sure the docs will change the due date throughout the pregnancy.
@cascadecherub: Yeah, I totally altered my diet. It definitely helps. I've been making a bigger effort to eat lots of fruits and yogurt, and I feel it's making a world of difference!
@chastenet: :)
@Mrs Sarah McK: Thanks for making a new thread!!
I'm loving the U/S pic! My first one at 6.5wks just looked like a blob. We have another one next Tues and I'll be almost 10.5 wks so I'm hoping to see something a wee bit bigger in there! Anyone else get an u/s around that time? I'm just curious as to what we should expect.
Hope all the Aug mamas are doing well! We are in the homestretch to the 2nd trimester :D
Oh, my god, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches sound SO GOOD right now. *drool*
Excuse me a second....
@ktgee04 - I have my first ultrasound on Friday and I'll be either 10 or 11 weeks (I think I switch weeks on a Friday). I'm so nervous! Crossing my fingers (and toes) everything is normal and okay and bebe is thriving in there.
@ktgee04: I feel like the second half of this first trimester is flying by...I can't believe it'll be over in just a couple of weeks!
I don't know yet about 10-11 weeks (we're going for our second appointment tomorrow), but I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks, and could clearly make out where the head and the bulk of the body was (as opposed to a blob), the nubs of arms and legs (very small, granted), and we could see the heartbeat. You should try googling 10 or 11 week ultrasounds to get an idea of what you might be able to see.
@bebefly: Seriously, PB&J's are the only thing I've been able to consistently eat, and even crave. Nothing else is appealing. I try to eat other things...oatmeal and couscous usually sit well...but I always want a PB&J.
@ktgee04: My ultrasound was at the very beginning of my 9th week, and it looked baby-like, so I'd say yours will too! What's the purpose of your 2nd ultrasound? I think every appointment should have an ultrasound...it's the best part of going to the doc while preggo! I'm going on Monday, and I'm secretly hoping they send me for another one, but the ultrasound nurse said the next prob wouldn't be until 18-20 weeks! :( That's soooo far away!
I just got back from my 8 week appointment. We've got a baby in there. Heartbeat looked good. Baby is currently measuring at 8w3d, so my due date still stands. We went over the basics of being pregnant and the testing ahead for me. Husband was pretty entranced with our little raspberry in the sonogram. Only disappointing thing is that my pregnancy will be dealt with my doctor until about 20 weeks. Then, I start seeing the other doctors in the practice because one of them always covers the hospital. Hopefully, I'll see her in August for the delivery. She's confident about the pregnancy and wants me to lay low on the fruit juices for sugar content, work out more once I have the energy, and increase my calcium with milk and other sources, no whole milk. I went ahead and bought a Bella Band thing on etsy since I have one pair of pants I can't seem to wear right now. So, so far, so good. I didn't get a good glimpse at the heartbeat, but it's there.
@bunnylovesbear: We aren't having the u/s at the second appt for any particular reason. The OBGYN office I go to has a portable U/S machine that they use for every appt that is 'free of charge' since it's not as high-tech as say the one you'd use for your 20 wk U/S. You don't use a tech or anything, the doctor just gels you up quick and takes a look. It's so nice b/c we can see our lil one at every appt even though it's not super high resolution picture or anything.
I have googled a few 10 wk u/s and it's making me so anxious to see what's happening in there! Hopefully it looks 'baby-like' like you guys were saying
@bebefly: @Mrs Sarah McK: PB&J...yuuuum. Just ate lunch but could still TOTALLY go for one right now! It's one of the few things I still have an appetite for. @Bebefly: Good luck on your appt!!
@cascadecherub: Congrats on a great appt! Don't you just love how excited DH can get when they see what they helped 'create'?! : )
@cascadecherub: Yay, congrats on a great appointment and a healthy, heart-beaty (totally a word ;) little bub!
We had our second appointment today, this time with a midwife who works at the clinic. She will not be one of the possibilities of people to deliver our baby, because the hospital we will be delivering at does not allow midwives to deliver. Our of a roster of 15 or 20, only two of the OBs that deliver at our hospital work at the satellite clinic we go to, which means there's a really good chance that unless we have to get induced we won't have met the attending beforehand.
Also, the hospital we're delivering at is a teaching hospital, which means that there's a possibility residents will be in the room with us. But I thought about it for a while, and decided I was okay with that...I think I'd feel a bit honored to be helping train a future doctor when everything was said and done.
Anyway, my appointment went well, except that the appointment before ours ran really long, so we waiting in the exam room for about half an hour. But that also means that if I have a ton of questions that I won't be shuffled out anyway. My BP was really good--102/60. Got a culture swab and a pap, which I was expecting.
Best part, we got to hear the heartbeat today! Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh! 170 bpm. And she found it so fast! We did, though, lecture Baby McK while we were waiting, and told him to make sure we could hear his heartbeat quickly. Glad she listened! We put in a request for the NT screening in a few weeks...I'll have to wait for the hospital to call me to set it up.
We did get some possibly bad news, though. Apparently during our ultrasound the tech discovered a subchorionic hematoma behind the placenta, which in Doc speak is a blood clot. The good news is a healthy percentage of women go on to have perfectly healthy pregnancy, and the clot either passes out as spotting or is absorbed into the body. The bad news is that it can sometimes cause the placenta to disattach from the uterine wall and cause a miscarriage.
The midwife expected that we had been told about this already (by the tech), and I was pretty pissed that we hadn't. She told me not to worry, and to try to take it easy, don't lift anything over 20 lbs, and try to spend a couple of minutes a couple of times a day relaxing with my feet up. I googled for a couple of minutes today, and then decided that making myself crazy with whatifs wasn't going to keep my stress levels down...so I'm trying to stay positive.
ETA: After I hit submit on this post, I got the green screen of death telling me "slow down, you move too fast". I'm glad it went through, I would have thrown something if it hadn't.
@ktgee04: Hmm...fingers crossed that my doctor's office does the same thing! That would be incredibly fantastic! :) Oh, and I had a PB&J for lunch today, too....with strawberry jam. Yum.
So I discovered the most adorable thing every today... My sister is borrowing my laptop, so I signed on using my hubby's laptop. Guess what his backdrop is???? Our ultrasound pic! He is just the cutest thing!! (His backdrop USED to be a pic of our dog...haha)
@cascadecherub: Congrats on a healthy ultrasound! I understand your disappointment in not being able to see the same doctor the entire way through. I have the same problem and have (pretty much) come to terms with it. My doctor is not French and so she can only practice at the American Hospital here, which is private and veeeerrry pricey. We can't afford to deliver there, so I'll be seeing her until 20 weeks or so and then switching to a public (and free) hospital for the rest. I'm bummed because I love my doctor, but I can't justify the cost.
@bunnylovesbear: That is too cute :) It's so fun seeing our husbands get into this whole pregnancy thing, I think ultrasounds are key for them to feel involved.
@Mrs Sarah McK: I'm glad that you had a good appointment and sorry about the worrisome news you got. Let's stay positive and assume that you'll be within that healthy percentage of women who just pass the clot and have no issues.
@ktgee04: My doctor has one of those portable machines, too. Isn't it great!? I'll be sad when I have to stop seeing her because the hospital where I will deliver and where I'll start going for check-ups at 20 weeks will only 2 ultrasounds over the last 20 weeks, boo!
Oh, also, I'm a little annoyed...DH and I had planned on telling some of his extended family at a get-together this weekend (since we were with my family for Xmas). And come to find out that one of his aunt's who will be there already knows! Apparently, FIL told his best friend (understandable), who told his wife (understandable), who in turn told FIL's sister who she is friends with (totally unacceptable!!!). I'm pretty annoyed, I have never met this woman, what is she doing announcing our baby news to our family?! Grrr!!!
@chastenet: Yeah, we're dealing with a similar situation. so frustrating. My hubby's sister-in-law told her mother (even though we asked for the pregnancy to be kept a secret) and she kept talking to me about it last weekend at a family party. I know she meant well...she was just congratulating me...but my hub's Grampy was right there and we haven't even told him yet! Then, to make matters worse, she tells another person at the party my due date! ugh!!
Ugh, today's been a crampy day literally. They've been strong since I got home. I've been keeping my legs elevated at work with a recycling bin and drinking tons of water. I'm drinking way more today than my usual 96oz. I wonder if this is a growing today because ouch! I also wonder if it's a result of being out late last night. I have another late night ahead of me tomorrow. I'm planning an early bedtime tonight and a nap tomorrow before the late night activity.
@chastenet: Aw, that's lame, I'm sorry. I don't understand people who think it's their right to share someone else's big news (without permission, anyway).
@cascadecherub: Sorry you had a crampy day. Mine have been pretty bad today, and I've been flirting with a migraine. I can't wait to get past this point.
@Mrs Sarah McK: Glad that I'm not alone in having a crampy day. It's been awhile since I've had a rough night of it. My nausea's abated for the moment with a couple slices of pizza and orange juice later.
I did this on another board and thought I'd repost here:
1) What traits (personality or physical) do you have that you hope your LO has?
My eyes.
2) What about your DH/SO's traits?
His metabolism, his optimism, his athleticism, his memory recall.
3) What traits do you not want them to have?
My migraines.
4) Any specific gender you're hoping for?
We'd love a girl--there hasn't been a girl born into my husband's family in 73 years. We're due. But I'd be just as thrilled with a boy. Less stuff (hair and otherwise) to buy :)
5) What names have you been thinking of? Any family names?
Madeline or Eleanor (Ellie) Grace, all family names. Nathan and Evan are currently in our top boy spots. DH's middle name is Evan, it's his dad's middle name, and was his maternal grandmother's maiden name.
6) # Grandchild:
This will be the 11th grandchild on my side (I'm the second-youngest of 7), and the fifth on DH's side.
@bunnylovesbear: Ugh! That's even worse, right under your nose and by someone you know! Some people...I just don't understand what goes through their head!
@cascadecherub: Sorry about the major cramps :( I don't think it would have to do with a late night though. I think this is just a major growing time so it's normal for us to feel that by way of cramping. I read today that between 9 and 12wks LOs double in size!
1) What traits (personality or physical) do you have that you hope your LO has?
My eye color, my lips, my eyebrows, my determination and sense of direction.
2) What about your DH/SO's traits?
His metabolism, his eyelashes, his dimples, his smile, his height, his ease in social situations and with small talk.
3) What traits do you not want them to have?
Our impatience / tempers
4) Any specific gender you're hoping for?
I would still secretly love a girl, but we are both pretty sure it's a boy for some reason.
5) What names have you been thinking of? Any family names?
Names will be Alice or Paul. As for middle names, we're undecided. Either we do my family tradition and use my maiden name as a middle name for all our children. Or we do the French tradition (as DH would like) and use both grandmothers' names if it's a girl or both grandfathers' for a boy. The thing is, since our parents are of different nationalities, their names sound kind of dumb next to each other...
6) # Grandchild:
1st all around
Oh I love these!
1) What traits (personality or physical) do you have that you hope your LO has?
My eyes, sense of humour, ability in English, musical ability, love of books/reading (although I suspect that one is mostly up to me, ha).
2) What about your DH/SO's traits?
His eyes, bum (hehehe *ahem*), ability in math, athletic ability.
3) What traits do you not want them to have?
Both our metabolisms! And I'd like for the baby not to be as blind as I am.
4) Any specific gender you're hoping for?
I want a girl. Like, to the point where I will have to do some serious thought adjustment if this turns out to be a boy (and, of course, he wants a boy).
5) What names have you been thinking of? Any family names?
Delaney Grace if it's a girl (Delaney is my grandma's maiden name), and Andrew something if it's a boy, after Andrew Moog, DH's favourite NHL goalie. We still have to decide on a middle name.
6) # Grandchild:
First on my side, fifth on his, but first fully biological (DH has two adopted siblings who have two kids each).
Hello!!! Sorry i've been MIA this week. Work has been crazy since I told my supervisors about the pregnancy. There are going to be a bunch of changes in staffing due to someone retiring in June so my announcement caused a bit of a panic. They are already trying to get me to decide how much I want tork, where in our unit and when I will come back. It's a bit stressful since DH and I really haven't figured that out yet. We could afford for me not to work but I want to and I also want to make sure that I make more than the cost of daycare which is going to be tough considering the prices around where we live. We shall see!
As for symptoms this week, I've had a really hard time eating much as I feel so full after for hours. I went to bed so uncomfortable last night after only eating about half of what I would normally. Consitpation and triedness are still my main complaints.
1) What traits (personality or physical) do you have that you hope your LO has?
My optimisim, empathy and concern for others, patience
2) What about your DH/SO's traits?
His athleticism, eyes, determintation, and his laugh
3) What traits do you not want them to have?
Our ears-we both are a bit self conscious about them :) And probablhy our stubborness.
4) Any specific gender you're hoping for?
I am really indifferent but he's routing for a boy.
5) What names have you been thinking of? Any family names?
For a boy, he would be named after my husband and his father, both Charles. My only issue with this is the nickname. FIL goes by "Chuck" and DH goes by "Chuck" adn "Chucky" which I refuse to call him. He wants to call our son "Chucky" and we are in complete dissagreemnt about it. I say "Charlie" or Charles. He is adament about "Chucky". I may be secretly hoping for a girl just to avoid the ongoing argument :)
For a girl...we haven't decided on a name but like Vera which is my grandmothers middle name and Mae which is my great grandmothers middle name. I'm drawn to the name Hana because we went to a town called Hana on our honeymoon and that's when we got pregnant.
6) # Grandchild:
4th for both sides
Sorry for the uber long post! I missed you guys :)
1) What traits (personality or physical) do you have that you hope your LO has?
Metabolism, creativity, love of animals, empathy
2) What about your DH/SO's traits?
Eyes and smile, sense of humor, love of animals
3) What traits do you not want them to have?
Procrastination (both DH & I), my nose, my teeth, eyesight (both DH & I), trouble sharing feelings (DH)
4) Any specific gender you're hoping for?
Either, I just want a healthy baby!
5) What names have you been thinking of? Any family names?
So far...
Boy: Ronan
Girl: Julianna, Nadia, Clara
6) # Grandchild:
3rd grandchild for my parents, 1st grandchild for his parents
Hi, ladies! I've been MIA in Costa Rica--we're headed home tomorrow. Things are rolling along here. I have my second appointment on Monday and the first NT screening the following Monday. We told my in-laws before we boarded the plane to come here. We handed out free drink coupons and included one that I had made that entitled them to a free grandchild or niece/nephew, as applicable or a free headset. :) I even put a picture of the ultrasound and my MIL still didn't get it. Thank goodness for my SIL... So everyone is happy and I'm relieved to be out in the open while on vacation.
Love the new questions!
1) What traits (personality or physical) do you have that you hope your LO has?
Honestly, Baby #1 looks mostly like my husband so I'd just like some resemblance to me!
2) What about your DH/SO's traits?
Patience, math/science abilities
3) What traits do you not want them to have?
We both wear glasses but I'd hope that poor vision could skip a generation. And my bad knees.
4) Any specific gender you're hoping for?
I'm torn. As we have a girl already, part of me would really like a boy (husband wants a boy). If we're talking practical stuff? I'd like to avoid a girl because I don't see how we can decide on a name again. But I'd like to avoid the circumcision discussion, too. :) Honestly, healthy would be wonderful and either would be fun.
5) What names have you been thinking of? Any family names?
Baby #1 has a family middle name from my side so if it's a girl I want to use one from his side. I'd like to use Lu as that was his grandmother's middle name (we just lost her before Thanksgiving when she was nearly 101). First names are hard, though. If it's a boy I'd love Cooper Joseph. I'm pushing for Joseph as a middle name because it my brother's middle name and my FIL's first name--the most important men in each of our lives. And I just like Cooper but also think it's fun because we honeymooned in Ireland and I enjoyed learning about coopering (whiskey barrel making). Hubby never likes any names I like, though, so I'm anticipating a struggle. :) We'll keep it a secret till the baby's here, though, so I'm totally outing myself to you guys.
6) # Grandchild:
#2 on both sides.
@chastenet: I know, right? It wasn't someone I was close with...It was my brother-in-law's mother-in-law, and she's kind of a fruit loop. But still. I was ready to loooose my mind! My hubby wasn't even there to do damage control for me!
@orvis18: I love the name Hana and the story behind it! And I hear you on the fullness, constipation, and exhaustion. I just got back from a two-hour trip to the mall, and I feel like I could nap for hours! ugh! oh, and I'm with you on the Chucky, thing. Charlie is totally cute, though!
1) What traits (personality or physical) do you have that you hope your LO has?
I'd say my eyes, height, and metabolism. Both our kindness and love of animals.
2) What about your DH/SO's traits?
Definitely his atheticism and sense of humor.
3) What traits do you not want them to have?
Our hairiness! Ha. That's sounds so gross typed out like that, but he's a typical Italian man, and I'm luckily a blonde. :)
4) Any specific gender you're hoping for?
Well, I already have a daughter from a previous relationship, so we'd both love to have a boy. Although I'm kinda torn and sometimes secretly hope for another girl! My husband is vastly outnumbered living in a house of girls, so he'd def appreciate a boy. But, of course, we just want a healthy baby. I will be thrilled either way, so I really don't have much of a preference. :)
5) What names have you been thinking of? Any family names?
Our boy name was decided even before we were TTC. John Louis. both family names. John is both our maternal grandfathers' names and Louis is my hubby's paternal grandfather. Louis is also my husband's middle name, his father's nickname, and my godfather's name. So lots of family connections.
For a girl, we're currently thinking Abigail (Abbey) Michelle. Michelle is my middle name, so that's a definite decision. Right now we're really liking the nickname Abbey for a girl, but I also like Ellie. We liked Lilly, too...but that seems to be trendy right now, so it's out.
6) # Grandchild:
This will 2nd grandchild on both sides...and if it's a boy, it will be the FIRST grandson for both sides. (Another reason we're kinda rooting for a boy.)
Oh, I couldn't wait to get some free time to do this! So much fun! Thanks for posting it Future!
1) What traits (personality or physical) do you have that you hope your LO has?
My creativity, and affectionate-ness.
2) What about your DH/SO's traits?
DH has some PIERCING BLUE eyes. Everyone comments on them - I pray our baby has those, his dimples and his problem-solving ability.
3) What traits do you not want them to have?
Our height. I'm only 5'3 and DH is 5'8 (tallest in his family). His WHOLE family is CRAZY short. I also dont want baby to have my emotional instability, ha.
4) Any specific gender you're hoping for?
DH wants a boy so badly, and I sort of want a boy just to make him happy, but I'd really love a girl, myself, so I guess I'm sort of indifferent. It's our first baby and I really just want it to be happy/healthy!
5) What names have you been thinking of? Any family names?
I like family names but DH doesn't. He like super-weird names and it's impossible to agree on ANYTHING. Then we have our parents throwing their opinions in the pot and bleh, nothing sticks.
6) # Grandchild:
HAHAHA. This will be grandchild number 28! for DH's side and number 6 for my side... it's pretty safe to say the grandparents are plenty desensitized by now.
@chastenet: He has 6 siblings, one of which is younger and doesn't have kids yet and this is our first, so basically all of the grandkids are from just 4 of those siblings! I guess they all enjoyed growing up in a big Mormon family, they wanted to create large families for themselves as well. His grandmother amazes me, she has 58 great grandchildren!
I already told him I'm having TWO tops, and that's IF I survive this one! ha.
Sorry all that I've been so absent. With nothing much to comment on and my first ultrasound still 2 weeks away - I'm just trying to stay sane haha!! Although DH and I did invest in a fetal doppler to help with my anxiety. I *think* we found the heartbeat last night for the 1st time!! It sounded like a train chugging along. I hope this means everything's healthy....just need to wait a could more weeks to see.
Also - yay for this!!
1) What traits (personality or physical) do you have that you hope your LO has?
My ears, love for animals, musical ability, ability to look at things outside the box, sense of wonder
2) What about your DH/SO's traits?
His mechanical smarts, his optimism, his eyes, his metabolism, his planning skills
3) What traits do you not want them to have?
Stuborness (both of ours), temper (his), ears & nose (his - sorry DH!!), procrastination (mine), hair (mine).
4) Any specific gender you're hoping for?
He's dying for a boy. This will be our first but he comes from a family of only boys, so he "claims" that he has no idea what he'll do with a girl. MIL told me when I had only been dating DH for a short while that when we have a child it HAS to be a girl (kind of makes me hope for a boy...). Honestly, I don't have a big feeling on it either way - which is why I'm not planning on finding out until delivery. I figure at that point all we'll care about it a healthy baby and hopefully the gender will be exciting no matter what for everyone.
5) What names have you been thinking of? Any family names?
Our top boy name is Baylen. I know it's a bit different - but it's just a name we both have come to love somewhere along the way. The middle name for a boy will be Robert - after DH's grandpa who passed away a couple of years ago. Awkward thing about that is that my non-existent father's name is also Robert...ah well.
Girls is tough. DH has "no" girl's names that he likes. My top one of Everleigh - but I'm worried that her nickname might be Evie - which is our current dog's name haha! Oops! I also like Natalie, Eloise, and Samantha.
6) # Grandchild:
#1 all around...quite the excitement.
Anyone else thinking of getting a fetal doppler? I'm about 8.5 weeks pregnant. I won't see the baby again until 13 weeks. Part of me really wants to get one just to hear the heartbeat to be sure in the interim that our little jellybean is growing, growing, growing. I hate having to wait a month from now to hear it.
@cascadecherub: We thought about it, but then I thought I'd drive myself crazy if I couldn't find it.
DH has a new ritual, though, that involves putting his head ear down onto my abdoment to try to hear the heartbeat...he's convinced he's heard it once or twice, but I keep telling him he's probably hearing my stomach. It's sweet to have him just laying there listening though.
I'm still feeling pretty crappy. I'm not as overwhelmingly tired all of the time (although I could still probably sleep 12 hours if left alone), but my appetite is still pretty much gone most of the time. Luckily, it decided to make an appearance Saturday night in time for dinner at Carrabba's with my in-laws. 2 appetizers (for the table, not just me :), soup, an entree, and a shared dessert later I practically had to be rolled out of the restaurant. I felt sick most of the rest of the night, but everything stayed down. It was more of a "urg, I ate too much" sick. Contrasted with last night when half a bowl of cauliflower/baked potato soup and ha glass and a half of apple juice made me vomit. I think it might have been the apple juice that did it, though.
I scheduled my NT scan today for January 31st. I'm looking forward to a time when I'm not nervous going into every appointment. Candice, does that time ever come?
Anyway, hope everyone had a great weekend!
@cascadecherub: I have a friend that's due in about a month, and she just told me over the weekend that I can borrow hers once their little bundle of joy arrives. I'm pretty excited about it! :)
@Mrs Sarah McK: I ate a bowl of chili last night. It was the most food I've eaten in a sitting lately. I felt too full and tired after that. Earlier that day, I ate half a slice of pizza and gagged. I've only thrown up 3 times thus far, once when I ate too much. Today's been an exhaustion day for me. I could crawl back into bed and sleep the day away if I could. My NT scan isn't until 2/13, so the wait for the appointment is making me batty. I just want to know that our bean is growing. Everything seems to indicate that the baby's doing just fine. I'm thinking that the fetal doppler might help my fears a bit.
