Hubby and I found out last week (day before Thanksgiving) that we are expecting, woohoo!!! We are so excited. Our due date is somewhere around August 5th.
Anyone else due in August???
Congratulations!!
I'm tentatively joining this thread if that's okay. I'm part of the July thread right now. Based on my LMP, I'm due July 31, but based on when I think I ovulated, I'm actually due around August 2nd :).
I'm hoping I can get a dating scan from my obgyn soon!
OMG an August thread- how exciting! Congratulations! Hopefully this thread gets filled up with lots of graduates soon! Happy and healthy 9 months ladies!
Yay! I'll join! Can I ask some getting to know you questions?
When did you find out and how?
I found out 3 days ago, Saturday. I'm 13dpo. When cd10 dawned and my temp was still high and there was no spotting, I tested and it was positive!
When is your due date, known or expected?
FF says August 7th.
Do you have any other children?
No, this is my first pregnancy.
How did you tell your partner?
Well, when I got the positive, it was still too light to show DH. I went to Target and got some more tests. And ordered a onesie online with his favorite comic book character. Was trying to wait until it arrived, express delivery scheduled for today, but couldn't when, later on that same day he started watching a series for that same comic book character. All he said was "wow" twice. What a let down. *sigh*
What are you looking forward to in your pregnancy?
Hmm, will have to think about this. Just the whole experience.
Any fears?
That it won't be healthy. :(
Excited to join, but a little wary as well. Nervous about all the possibilities, I think.
When did you find out and how?
Thanksgiving day . . . I had been feeling weirdly bloated for the week prior, had taken a test on the Monday (which I thought may have been 10 DPO), which was negative. Had one left and had a weird thought about making sure I could drink at Thanksgiving dinner. Lo and behold, it was positive! I think I actually ovulated a week later, so it was 12 DPO.
When is your due date, known or expected?
Expected Aug. 3, based on my last menstrual period. No sono yet or anything.
Do you have any other children?
Nope, first pregnancy.
How did you tell your partner?
I came back to bed and told him that I peed on a stick and there were two lines! Hehe. He asked what that meant, and I explained (also explained to him that there are no false positives on pregnancy tests). He was very excited and cute.
What are you looking forward to in your pregnancy?
Everything! Especially motherhood.
Any fears?
So many. The weirdest and scariest part is that I have to be a patient now! I'm used to the doctor role, as I'm a 4th year ob/gyn resident. I've also seen so many scary complications that I'm nervous about all the what ifs. Can't wait for my first ultrasound in a week or so!
So excited to join and HELLO other August Mama's!
When did you find out and how?
Just this morning. Although I had a feeling on Monday! I'm 12DPO!
When is your due date, known or expected?
FF says August 9th.
Do you have any other children?
This is my first pregnancy. I do, however, have two stepsons.
How did you tell your partner?
I just put the test on the bathroom counter and jumped back into bed. when he came upstairs he saw the test and then smiled and asked me if I was "happy as punch" after that he came and we cuddled in bed for a few mins. it was perfect.
What are you looking forward to in your pregnancy?
Feeling the baby kick and move.
Any fears?
I agree that not having a healthy baby would be my biggest fear.
When did you find out and how? A few days before Thanksgiving! I POAS at 10 dpo and got a BFN. I got my squinter at 11 dpo and my BFP at 12.
When is your due date, known or expected? August 1st!
Do you have any other children? Nope first one
How did you tell your partner? I wanted to surprise him, but I needed a second pair of eyes to verify that I wasn't hallucinating a line. LOL so the two of us were holding the test up to the light and squinting. Totally not what I expected, but what can ya do! haha
What are you looking forward to in your pregnancy? Telling our families, finding out the gender, feeling kicks....
Any fears? Of course! But for now I'm just trying to take it one day at a time.
SO excited to get to know you girls and go through this journey with you all! :)
@skipper2010: OH YAY!!! HI. I totally asked you what boards you're on in the TTC thread! LOL! You're HERE!!!!
@.twist.: Haha yes here I am! Congrats on your BFP by the way!!!!
Hi ladies! Congrats to all of you! I was hoping someone would start an august thread! I'm so excited to have you all to share this journey with, especially before we tell anyone!
When did you find out and how? I got my BFP on Thanksgiving! Like Skipper2010, I POAS at 10 dpo and got a BFN. I got a maybe almost barely line at 11 dpo and my BFP at 12.
When is your due date, known or expected? August 3, based on ovulation date. I'm calling the doctor in the morning.
Do you have any other children? Nope.
How did you tell your partner? I didn't tell him about the maybe line at 11 dpo. When I tested the next morning, I set the timer on my phone, when it hit 5 minutes, I sent him to look at the test. He asked what he was looking for and when I told him a line, he asked "like that one?" and there it was!
What are you looking forward to in your pregnancy? Telling our families, finding out the gender, feeling kicks....
Any fears? Absolutely! Right now I'm nervous about just scheduling the doctors appointment. Even though this was planned, I'm feeling really overwhelmed about the whole thing! I also had the results from my pap smear come back abnormal (LSIL) a few days before my BFP, so I'm still nervous about that too.
Hi August Mamas!! I am so happy to join you all!!
When did you find out and how? I got my BFP on Thanksgiving! I tested negative on a digital 13 dpo so I had given up for the month...a few days later, no AF, so I decided to test again...Positive!! I couldn't believe it so I took 2 more...all positive :) I kept my secret from everyone that day (while making my 1st Thanksgiving dinner for my fam and the in laws) ! I can't believe no one noticed that I didn't have any wine!
When is your due date, known or expected? Aprox Aug 2nd?
Do you have any other children? I have an amazing 4yr old DD from my previous marriage...she is so happy to be a big sister....she is going to be such a help ( I hope...lol)
How did you tell your partner? I kept the secret on Thanksgiving day...hoping to think of some amazing way to tell him. When I got home from work on Friday we were sitting on the couch and discussing what to make for dinner. I couldn't hold it in any longer...I told hime we should go out to dinner to 'celebrate'. He looked at me funny and said 'celebrate what'?? I said celebrate that we are going to have a baby. He was thrilled to say the least!
What are you looking forward to in your pregnancy? Finding out the gender...decorating a nursery...sharing the experience with my husband who at 42yrs old has no (bio)children (we have raised my daughter together since she was 1yr old....he is an amazing dad to her)
Any fears? Holy Hell....YES! I worry about being an 'older' mom at 37yrs old and all the extra worries/concerns that come with it. I am terrified of MC. I have recently lost a lot of weight and I worry that I will fall back into my bad habits while prego and gain too much weight. And a millions other things that randomly run through my head during the day!
Ladies! I'm so excited our group is growing! And we're still early so there's more to come our way.
Question: Do you plan to go: Green or find out the sex of the baby??
For us, I will be finding out ASAP. We have two boys (my stepsons) and I just want to know so I'm prepared!
@.twist.: I want to find out ASAP too!! There is no way I could wait until the baby is born!
I think we're leaning towards staying team green, but we'll see how we feel when it gets closer.
I called the doctor today to make an appointment, she said they usually see women between 8 and 10 weeks, which puts me into January (im out of town the week of xmas) and she said she couldn't schedule me yet, they don't have the January calendar! How crazy is that!
I asked her to have the midwife call me, partly so I can ask about the LSIL (abnormal pap results) and what I should do and partly so I can ask about what I can expect at my first appt. it's a little tough for DH to take off work, but he definitely wants to do it if we get to see the baby!
How are all of you feeling? Any symptoms? I have sore boobs, feel crampy off and on ( nothing major, just little twinges), and I've been super burpy. No idea if that last one is pregnancy related or not, but it's getting really old, haha.
@skipper2010: I copied and pasted the roll call from your post, and I just noticed I never changed the answer to the "looking forward to" question. Sorry if I look like a creepy stalker copy cat! It's also silly because the answers don't even apply to me! We're not planning to find out gender, and I'm not completely excited to tell my family because my mother is overly enthusiastic and overly opinionated and I'd rather not deal with it. I know she means well, but it's exhausting! I'm excited about feeling kicks but also sort of terrified about the whole pregnancy/ body change/ growing a life thing!
@nonimouse12: Oh, I meant to comment yesterday. Don't freak out about your abnormal pap. I had one a couple years ago and went and had a biopsy done and did that a couple times and everything turned out fine. Although, when I first found out I was bawling my eyes out in the doctors office and the nurses were trying to comfort me. haha I was a mess and so scared. Try not to worry until there's a real problem! :)
As for symptoms, I'm not sure... I have been pretty crampy and I swear I have spidey senses in my nose. I'm smelling everything! Last night I noticed a bit of nausea (it woke me up), but this morning I feel ok again. My nipples are a little tender but nothing that I'd consider a major symptom. I'm also a little tired and out of breath if I walk too far or something. haha
I feel like as long as I get more symptoms every day then things are progressing nicely.
Oh my gosh I can't believe there's already an August 2013 thread! I have an August 2012 baby.
Congratulations, good luck, and invest in flip flops and dresses, haha!
@.twist.: Thanks! Positive stories are always reassuring! I'm trying not to be too worried, and mostly I'm not--statistically I know it's usually nothing. I also had a BV infection that was clearing up which seems like it could mess with things during the pap smear and I had a negative HPV test and clean pap the prior year, which is obviously a good thing. Pregnancy just makes it all more complicated--it's better not to do a biopsy while pregnant. I'm inclined to wait till after I deliver, since tests could be risky and it normally clears up on its own. I just worry that I could be in that tiny percentage where it gets worse.
I can't really talk to anyone in real life about this, so its so nice to be able to talk here and get out of my head!
Im glad your symptoms aren't too bad! I'm dreading them potentially getting worse. And while I know that cramping is normal, it's sort of nice to hear other people are experiencing it too, to kind of reassure me that it really is ok.
Good lord, I sound like an insecure mess today! Im not sure what's going on--i got stupid nervous about calling the doctor this morning.
@nonimouse12: Oh! I didn't realize that about the biopsies and pregnancy. I think I'd probably wait too, 9 months is still enough time to get anything if it does get worse. However, like you said a lot of it clears up on it's own. Mine did :) If you do ever want to vent or anything just PM me!
It is REALLY nice to hear about other people having the same symptoms! Cramps seem a little freaky because it's not something you often hear pregnant women talk about (probably because they're trying not to tell anyone for the first trimester!).
Does anyone else feel like the first trimester is going to just DRAG by? I feel like it will. haha
@nonimouse12: Hahaha you're too funny! I didn't think you were a creepy stalker at all...I figured that's what happened.
Is anyone having a hard time keeping this quiet? I told a couple friends (well they guessed because we went out for dinner and I said I didn't really feel like drinking). So now that a couple people know I just want to spread the word. But I'm not going to. We're waiting until Christmas to tell the fam, and it's still super early. Only 5 weeks today!
@skipper2010: I am having a hard time not telling people too! We told our parents, my 2 sisters and my best friend. Today I ended up having to let my boss know (as I manage the delivery/receiving area for a large store....my job is VERY physicial)....there is no way I am going to put our baby at risk by pushing around 300 lb refrigerators. Unfortunately, there is no way for people at work not to know something is up!
@nonimouse12: How ANNOYING that a doctors office wouldn't have their appointment books for Jan yet..WTF? I was able to make my 1st appointment for Dec 10th...that was the soonest they would see me. I have sore boobs too...crampy at times as well. I am trying to continue my normal gym routine (60 minutes of cardio...either on the bike of elipticial)...but I noticed yesterday after I was done that my stomach was tight/uncomfortable...I may end up just walking on the treadmill or lowering the level I normally do. Hope the midwife can answer some of your questions!!
@skipper2010: I am having SUCH a hard time keeping it on the down low! One co-worker knows, my 3 best girlfriends know (and I'm sure their spouses all know now too), I have yet to tell our parents because I was thinking about waiting until after I go to the doctor and maybe get some bloodwork done!
@misskittykakes: Our doctors office is stupid like that too, can't book appointments too far in advance because they don't have their calendars "ready".
Yay August babies!
When did you find out and how?
I found out 2 days ago. It's hard to tell how many dpo I was, because my cycle was really long but has been shortening lately. I had some light spotting last week (implantation bleeding?) and my boobs hurt like hell, so I tested 2 days ago. Faint line! Darker line today!
When is your due date, known or expected?
August 8th
Do you have any other children?
No, first time!
How did you tell your partner?
I told my fiance last night. I was nervous because we weren't trying (just not preventing) and we're getting married in 4 weeks. Kinda stressful! He was so excited and happy!
What are you looking forward to in your pregnancy?
Feeling the baby move. Hearing the heartbeat. Getting a cute little bump! Buying the first baby clothes!
Any fears?
Miscarriage. Unhealthy baby.
We plan on going team green. Last night my fiance was like "we can't tell anyone until 12 weeks" but he woke up this morning grinning ear to ear and said "I want to tell everyone!" Haha, I talked him down from the ledge, but we did tell his sister, my best friend, and my mom. I've been having a hard time concentrating on anything because I'm so excited!
@JKasi: I hear ya! I have hardly been able to get any work done I'm so excited!!
Also, congrats on your upcoming wedding how exciting!!
@.twist.: I talked to the midwife today and she strongly recommended doing the colposcopy, which is just looking up in there, and said the dr will only do the biopsy if he thinks it's necessary ( this will be my first time with a male dr, which is a little weird), so that should be fine. I have that scheduled in mid December. fingers crossed it all goes ok.
@skipper2010: I was wondering when others are planning to tell people. We haven't told anyone yet. We sort of want to over Christmas because we'll actually be seeing all of our family in person then. We'll be 8 or 9 weeks then, which isn't too early, though I sort of wanted to wait until the second trimester. I don't really want to tell some people and hope they'll keep it quiet, I'd rather just do it all or nothing.
Anyway, I'm nervous about telling people before we see the heartbeat. I do have my first drs appt before Xmas, but they said they don't usually do an ultrasound then, and I probably won't have an ultrasound until 12 weeks or so. So, we may wait until then to tell people, I'm not sure. I wonder what the chances are of us talking them into doing an ultrasound at the 8 week visit?
@misskittykakes: I know, isn't that weird? January isn't that far away! You're getting in super early! I go in dec 20th, which I think is about the earliest they would see me. Good luck keeping up your gym routine! I'm mostly focusing on trying to keep up with my stretching. I spend too much time at a desk and I know it's terrible forkey body!
@JKasi: congrats! My DH is mostly ok with waiting to tell people, but I can tell its getting harder for him. Its adorable seeing the guys get so excited, isn't it?
@CuriousOne: @skipper2010: Yay girls!! Congrats! I love seeing charter/ttc bees I was with getting pregnant. All the best to you both!
@nonimouse12: I'd rather tell everyone at the same time as well, but my besties know me too well and totally guessed. Oh well. I hear ya on waiting for a heartbeat. I don't know if you'll be able to convince them to do an US at your 8 week appt, but I bet you'll be able to hear the heartbeat on doppler at that point. I have a dating US next week and then don't go for my next appt until 10 weeks. We're telling people around 8 weeks, but I kind of wish the US was closer to the 8 week mark when we tell people. UGH is the 1st trimester over yet??? lol
This still feels sooo surreal
@Mrs Sarah McK: Thanks for popping in! How's mommy life???
@skipper2010: I'm feeling great. Well not this very moment, I'm fighting off a super nasty cold but just before this I had pretty much passed the dreadful nausea and general crappy feeling of the first trimester and I'm officially past 12 weeks which is such a relief! I hope you don't experience any sickness but if you do, hang in there, it will come to an end eventually!
@MrsSawyer: Thanks! We're glad to be able to join you. Glad to hear you are through with nausea and that nasty cold.
@skipper2010: I'm not having a hard time keeping it secret. I'm not near any of my good friends anymore :( and we've drifted apart. So no one really to tempt me. Maybe if I was seeing them more often, iono.
@.twist.: i will definitely find out the sex.
@CuriousOne: when do you think youll decide to tell people? I'm sorry you've drifted from friends-- it's so easy to happen when you move apart. I know I'm less close to a lot of my old friends. I did tell one out of state friend that we were actually trying and I've complained about not being pregnant yet to her a few times (she just had a baby and could commiserate). I wonder if she'll notice that I've stopped complaining?
@skipper2010: hiding the not drinking from friends is the hardest! I wonder if any of mine will start to catch on. We usually hang out at friends houses and I typically bring a mixed drink in a sports bottle, so thatll make it a little easier to hide as long as no one looks too closely!
@skipper2010: Exhausting and overwhelming and absolutely, breathtakingly wonderful!
@nonimouse12: ugh. I'm going to my company xmas party tomorrow night. I'll be accepting a glass of wine and pretending to sip from it all night. One of my co-workers is INCREDIBLY observant and I'm scared she'll figure it out!
@.twist.: Good luck! A sip or two won't hurt so make sure to take a real sip in front of her to really throw her off!
Last week I called my OBGYN, was told I have to see nurse first and get blood test to confirm I'm pregnant. Took blood test yesterday, lab called me today to confirm my pregnacy (I'm 4 weeks) and scheduled my first appointment and ultrasound in Dec 26th (which I will be 8 weeks). I'm taking prenatal vitamins with DHA from over the counter for now until I see my doctor. Anyone else take blood work first? Been prescribed prenatal vitamins? I just find it weird that I don't get seen right away.
@SamanthaLovesJames: My dr. (Kaiser here in California) won't even see a pregnant woman until between week 8 to week 10....I have been reading about people getting ultrasounds at 6-7 weeks?? I even asked when I called to schedule my appointment if I needed to be seen sooner since I am 37..they said it didn't matter. No blood test was mentioned...no nothing. Is it standard to not be seen until after 8 weeks?? Maybe a dumb question....just wondering! Luckily my 1st appointment is Dec 10 so I don't have too long to wait!!
I think blood test to confirm my pregnacy was a waste, just money out of my pocket or insurance. I already took like 5 pregnacy tests before, wasnt' that enough. So I guess what you said it's true, they won't see me until I'm 8 weeks. They didn't prescribe me prenatal vitamins yet either :( which is okay, taking over the counter for now. Let us know how your doctor visit goes.
