I'm kinda new here and was just checking to see how far other August 2010 brides are in their planning...I feel like I'm so far behind.

I'm August 7th too! We've booked the venue for our ceremony & reception and a photographer. I haven't tried on a dress yet though, I'm waiting until school dies down a bit at the end of the summer. Have you planned anything so far? :)

Ah I am getting married August 7th, but this year! It will be my one year anniversary on your wedding day. Hard to visualize at this point.

We've talked to people, like we're having all silk flowers instead of real. My FI mom is extremely allergic and we have the town kind of reserved ( we're having it in his hometown of less than 1000 people).  But I look on this site and my brain swims with everything that I never thought of and all the planning that needs to be done

I'm 8/14/10 - I've bought my dress at a sample sale just happened to go to see what is was all about and it was perfect.  I bought my favors b/c I got a really good deal on them and a % goes back to charity.  I also bought my shoes.  I also have the ceremony & reception reserved.  I tend to be a little Obsessive Compulsive when it comes to event planning...I think it helps if you have a vision of what you want and work towards it.

I just bought my dress this week, I had no intention of getting it so early though. My fiance and I were planning a shopping trip across the border to Michigan and the Macy's we were going to had the dress I have been lusting over. :) I tried it on and bought it, It's a Judd Wadell ballgown from the spring 2009 line. So cliche but true, when you find your dress, you'll know.

I'm 8/7/10, too! I booked the venue for ceremony and reception. I went to one tasting with a caterer and am planning to go to 2 more in the coming month. It's a good time for us brides-to-be because a lot of vendors are more negotiable with the down economy. Also, if we book way in advance, they may give a discount! Start planning, hehe!

Yay August 7! We've booked the church, need to put down the deposit with the reception venue this week and we've interviewed 1 photographer. I've tried on a couple dresses, mostly whenever my sister is in town, and we know the general style that looks best on me (which isn't what I expected!). Other than that, I've done some flower prelims (paper flower bouquets--one of my BMs is crazy allergic too) and some invite ideas. It's nice to hear that a lot of other 8-7-10 brides don't have much concrete planning done either. I thought I was crazy behind! ^_^

Yay for August 7th 2010! I got engaged in the end of May and we've done venue, rabbi, photographer & band. I wanted to get big stuff out of the way and now I can kick up my feet a bit. I live in London though and am planning a wedding in Cleveland (I'm from Ohio) so everything is being planned from afar and really tricky! My parents have been great, but I really want to do the details myself. I'm planning a few trips home for things like the dress, but the first one isn't until November (a bit late for dress!), so I'm trying to get as much done before that as possible!

YEAAA August 7th here too.  I can't believe how fast we are all reaching the 1 year mark.

I have booked the ceremony and reception site.  I have my caterer, made my STDs and bought my invites.  I have my dress narrowed down to 2 options but haven't made a final decision.  1 I love more than the other but it doesn't come in the color I love and the other which comes in the right color and a much better price.

I know what I am using for flowers, we have picked out BM dresses but not ordered them yet

8/7/10!!! I am so excited that we are FINALLY approaching the one year mark...I got engaged at the end of March and can't wait to officially kick off a one year countdown :) Plus, it will help my sweetie feel as if we can really start talking details. So far we have booked our church, including our favorite priest, the reception venue, photographer, dj and entertainment, and I have found a dress that I really love but have not officially pulled the trigger on yet. I am afraid to buy it too early and run into another dress that I love more. Next I will be working on save the date cards, gathering materials for DIY projects like our birdcage and thank you notes for showers, wedding, etc. I also would love to get some ideas on gifts for our bridal party...it is things like this that can be dealt with now to avoid stress when it gets closer to next summer! Good luck fellow 8/7/10 brides!

    I'm August 1, 2010!!

We've done quite a bit of planning I suppose, I was consulting my Real Simple guide book last night and I think I'm on target for 12 months!  We booked our ceremony/reception site, our DJ and photographer!  The only thing we are missing at this point is our officiant, which we will be booking in the next month or two...

We have also found the invites and STD's we plan on sending...and I'm working on some DIY decos...but thats only because I will be doing grad courses this winter and want to get some stuff underway early!

    Congrats to everyone :) Yay!!

YAY finally some August 7th brides! I wasn't sure if there was a thread for this already. We booked our date 2 weeks ago and are visiting photogs, florist, and entertainment next weekend. It's funny because all of our appointments will be on this coming August 7th so exactly a year from the wedding lol.

    8/7/2010...

I can't believe we actually set a date. I have gotten thousands of ideas and now I can't wait to put them in action. I am a huge DIY person so I can't wait to see what my mind comes up with. It took us a forever to pick a date that would work for us and I can't wait... YAY

So I've fallen into the DAMASK Trap. My colors are Black and White Damask with hints of Canary Yellow...

Hi, I'm new here too..we've set a date which is August 7, 2010, which means we have a place. I am this close (holding fingers an inch apart) to getting a photographer, and i'm on the search for an officiant. I have some really clear ideas about what I want to do for centerpieces, too. But that's it so far....except for excessive drooling over dresses online...and lots of other fun stuff on etsy.

Less than a year to go!

How are you guys doing? We're booking our transportation and photographer this week, and should have a DJ soon. My mom is coming to go dress shopping with me this month and I think we have a winner for the bridesmaid dresses. :)

How early are you ordering your BM dresses?

We have our ceremony/reception venue-which comes with a set caterer (same place but I have yet to see it in person!) and plan on asking a friend to officiate at the ceremony.  NE allows any ordained individual to perform the ceremony, so she's going to become ordained online.  We also have a photographer, a wedding planner, once again, neither of whom I've met in person.  The cake person has been discussed but not booked.  I've got a dress!  I've sent ideas for invites and flowers to the wedding planner, just need to hear back from her.  I felt like I should be doing more, but maybe I'm ok right now.

I think I'm a new 8/7/10 bride!! We wanted to do 10/2/10 but realized with the weather factor in nor cal for our all outdoor wedding, we might be taking chance. So here we are as 8/7/10! I'm a little nervous that I only have 11 months instead of 13 to plan, but I think since we have our venue picked out we'll be okay!

yea!!!  Me too, me too!!!  We have the venue picked out - it's a shared ceremony and reception site, we have a DJ, a photographer, and an officient.  I also have an amazing friend or a friend who I've enlisted to help with planning which for any of you stressed out August 7th twins let me tell you it's the best thing i've done.  She's helping with concepting, ideas, and really just making my life easier!!

I've started dress shopping and hope to have one picked out by the end of the month.  i am in love with Claire Pettibone.  Any other twins getting married in San Diego?

I'm also an August 7th bride :) I'm planning my Wisconsin wedding from NB, Canada, so I've been booking a few things from a distance, with the help of my FMIL. So far, we've booked the ceremony & reception venue, the officiant, the photographer, and the caterer. I have the bridesmaid dresses all bought, and just this weekend, I ordered my wedding dress! We have our invitations printed, but not quite completed. I've decided on centerpieces, and am working on the reception menu. I'm a hairdresser, as is my mom, so that takes care of hiring a stylist, and my FBIL is our videographer :)

I think I'm in good shape planning wise, but the reason I have so much done is because I'm busy with school until 3 weeks before the wedding!

and wow, i thought we were in really good shape for planning--we just got engaged 2 1/2 weeks ago, and have our ceremony and reception sites locked down, our caterer, our officiant, and a hotel guest block nailed down, but you all are so far ahead! i haven't even asked all my bridesmaids yet! Tongue out i'm going to try gowns on for the first time this weekend with my mom, yay!

We just got engaged on October 7, so we've been planning for only a couple weeks.  Obviously, we've set the date as August 7, 2010!

We've set our budget, and we've been doing some research on venues that fit our budget.

We've looked at one reception site (LOVED IT) but we are looking at another this weekend.  We'll decide which to go with and start negotiating a contract after that.  We looked at a church and loved it, but haven't booked it yet, since it would only work with one of the reception sites (the other would be too far a drive).

We've started one registry and fiance has started the wedding website (he's a web developer so he's making it himself).  He also created a software for us to use to create our guest list.  We have a rough one done, but it needs pruning.

I've asked all my bridesmaids, and fiance has asked 1/2 of his wedding party.  I bought their bridesmaid dresses online and I'm waiting for them to come in, so the girls can try them and see if they fit.  I'm hoping they do because I love them, and they were only $30 from target.com!

I went dress shopping and found one I like, but I didn't purchase yet.  I want to shop around and decide if it's the one I really want before I commit.

We are meeting with a photographer next week, and hoping to firm that up soon.

So much left to do!  You girls make me feel behind.  :(

I am also 8/7/10!  We only got engaged 2 1/2 weeks ago (finnaroo, you and I must have gotten engaged right around the same day!) and I actually thought I was doing pretty well but you guys all seem to be far ahead of me.  We have the officiant and the church booked (but that was cake b/c my fiance has known the priest since he was about 10 yrs old), attendants all asked, my dress is half paid for, bridesmaid dresses picked out and guest list finalized.  We have a full day of appointments on Saturday though.  We talk to the priest (again), the florist, the reception site (which will include the food, so catering would be done) and do our registeries.  I am so excited for this weekend...I feel like we will be able to knock a bunch of things out on one day.

    Our updates:

I've been dress shopping 4 times.  I hadn't fallen in love with anything that I could justify paying the price for, so I was getting pretty frustrated and down about it.  I decided to take a trip to the mall and found a dress I LOVED at a department store.  It's not necessarily "bridal," just a white gown, but it's perfect.  They didn't have my size, so I ordered a couple sizes online and I'm waiting for them to come in to know for sure if one fits and I can use this dress.  It would be a steal at $200.  :-)

We also negotiated our reception venue & catering down in price.  We haven't signed the contract yet, but we're expecting it in the inbox today!

iggies, I bet you could do it.  The biggest thing is going to be finding a venue that works for your budget AND is available that day.  We're doing a daytime wedding, and both venues we liked best were available.  I think the wedding magazines and books tell you that you need a year in advance to book, but I don't think that's necessarily true.

Do your research now even though there's no ring on your finger.  Then you'll know where to go looking as soon as it happens.  I did a bit of reception site research before my enagement, and it took about 2 weeks of online research.  That's 2 weeks you can afford now instead of later!

Hey Sunnydebs, I'm 8/7 too AND I'm also in DC :)

We got engaged about a month ago and were thinking of a November 2010 wedding, but chose this because we could get our preferred venue.

I went dress shopping on Sunday and have another appt this Sunday :) But I smashed my ankle to smithereens, so the dresses are being tried on with a big black boot, LOL

@shertz1981 we are going with www.theinnatbrookevillefarms.com  It's near my parents home and taxes in Maryland are less than DC, so we were willing to move it outside the city, even though we live there.  :-)
