Hiii,

I am a date twin with you. I  might not be a good reference for you seeing as I am huge planner and have been ahead of the game for quite awhile. The only things I really have left to do are send out invites and do my dress fittings. I think thats about it?? I have even started on my seating chart. Where are you at in the planning?:)

I’m August 2nd, so a week before you.  We got engaged this past January and kind of just barreled into the planning starting sometime in February once we secured our venues.  The majority of the big stuff is done and invites are going out in a couple of weeks.  Are you feeling behind?  There is a private Facebook group you can join called August 2014 Brides.  There is a page on this forum about it or you might just be able to search it on FB.

twinter91:  Not quite a date twin (2 weeks after you) but most of the big stuff is done!

Here’s what I have left to do:

Send out invitations

Buy guestbook

Assemble out of town bags

Take bridal portraits (that’s a reigonal thing, I don’t know if you do that)

Recieve all RSVPs and do the seating arrangement

Go over the music list with the band

Book my nail appointments

And mostly – confirm, confirm, confirm. Call and confirm with everyone in the weeks leading up to the wedding.

Yes, if you are not already a part of the August 2014 facebook group you should join. I have been a part of it for quite a while and it is sooo helpful!! I am not sure how you go about getting on the group anymore as its been well over 6 months since I joined. Try another August thread here on wedding bee?

Hello date twin!

We got the big stuff done early on and have been working away on the smaller stuff when we have time.  To complicate matters, we decided to sell our house, buy another AND move before the wedding.  That hasn’t helped much!

A week or 2 ago, FI’s ring arrived (he LOVES it) and it has been tucked away for safe keeping.  We’re going to register tomorrow so that we can send our invitations in the next week.  To explain, we are doing an earlier RSVP date (partially due to the move) so we need to get them out ASAP to give people enough time to get back to us.

My biggest concern at this point are my shoes!  I finally found some that were suitable but they are way too expensive, so I’m still on the hunt.  My dress hasn’t come in yet but I only ordered it in February.

2/3 bridesmaids have ordered their dresses and one of them is looking after accessories for them all, so I don’t have to worry about that.

Our engagement photo shoot (one of which will be used for our signed frame at the wedding) is on May 24th.  We’ll be planning out wedding day locations while we’re with our photographer as well.

twinter91:  Hey! Thanks for the tip on the shoes. Thankfully, I found mine about 2 weeks ago. My dress is in and I’m going for my first fitting next week! Invites are out and we’ve already received a bunch back. Had a minor fiasco, ran out of stock and have to make copies which will be mailed tomorrow. That’s what happens when parents decide to add friends to the invite list after the fact!

Getting so excited!! In other news, we sold our house, bought another and will be doing some renovations immediately… we are truly insane. It will be worth it though. I think having yours out of town really ups the ante too…. kudos to you!

  • Wedding: August 2014 - winery

Hi Guys,

Im getting married on the 8th, friday. So, I think I count as a twins too right? 🙂 I’m getting married in Charlottesville, VA at a winery, so its about 3 hours from most people who live in the DC area so its kind of a ‘destination’ wedding. I have loved putting everything together.

I saw there was a ‘wecome bag’ question. This is what I did for mine. You can get more ideas from pinterest, just search ‘wedding welcome bag’. I am putting in: 2 water bottles with personalized lables and a stripey straw attached; 1 ‘recovery kit’ with advil, pepto, and a few other funny things (bandaids) in a cute box; a jar of jordan almonds, and maybe a few other snacks. I also am making a ‘thank you’ card for each bag and a schedule of activities. The tote bag is personalized from weddingchicks.com. Note of warning with using them: they take forever and are only reachable throug email.

Lets see what else… I have all my vendors booked, menu selected, and Im doing my floral trial next friday, which Im really excited about!

So, I just have to print the menus for the tables and also finish all of the details like escort cards, table assignments – i havent even really figured out how to manage that whole thing.

People have been slow on RSVPing even though we have an online way and a paper-rsvp option. Its been hard to get people to make their hotel reservations too. Its like herding cats here!!

Oh one thing I have absolutely LOVED: appycouple.com. This company lets you create a wedding website, which is also automatically an app! guests can download it for free for their iphone or android. I created mine earlier this year, it only cost $20. It is fun because you can post pictures, manage RSVPs including their menu choices, and the back-end is pretty user-friendly. (it has its kinks). You can also create events that are customized for each guest. So, your wedding party can have the whole series of events such as rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, day-of schedule, etc etc., whilc your regular wedding guest will just have the details about the ‘big day’.

My friends and fam have all said it is pretty user-friendly.

So, those are my hints for our wedding planning adventure… hope everyone isnt stressing too much!

– Sylvia
