Hey im not august, im september, but we are doing local stuff. like is there some food or good that the town/city is known for locally? is there like a nearby farm that makes something really cool and unique? something that says YOUR TOWN ya know?
suggestions that we are using: local honey, Virginia ham (we are in VA), boiled peanuts, etc.
I like the idea of including something that represents your area. I am including mini-pies made with local berries. I know some people include a couple of post cards, one for the guests to keep and one for them to fill out and send back to the couple with a favorite memory from the weekend. I'm also including some emergen-c, advil, and pepcid for travel-weary guests (or for the morning after the wedding). How big are your OOT bags? I'm not including much more than you are and my bags are pretty well filled up.
That sounds great to me. I got small bags so I don't have put too much in them. I am putting in chips rather than pretzels - they take space.
I know for sure we're having some sort of aspirin and bottled water but i'm kind of struggling with what else to do. i've tried to figure out something local (mystic area) to put in there but the main event out there is seafood and that doesn't really work!
@belledowdy: I like your postcard idea! My bags are about 14 inches high, 10 inches wide and 5 inches deep. The bags might be full enough - i just felt like I wasn't putting enough in.
@Kittyachi: I have the same problem as you - can't really think of anything local. I'm in Northern NJ.
I put sunblock (gives me good sunny day karma...knock on wood), mints, a Brooklyn, NY magnet and lots of maps...with a nice welcome letter.
we're including things from the 3 states we've lived in over our lives, NJ, CT, and MA.
from nj, i grew up near the M&M mars factory, so we're including M&M's. for ct, we're including either york peppermint patties or bigelow tea (something calming and tummy soothing either for the night or the morning after), and for ma we're including cape cod potato chips. other than that we're adding a weekend timeline, some pamphlets of things to do if people want to explore the area before driving home and some water. i'm not including any meds, because i feel weird about it. i think that 4 different things are enough and will fill up the bag, especially since we'll be including one for each person in the room. our bags are canvas style and about 14" long.
@Kittyachi: do you know about deep river chips (http://www.deepriversnacks.com/)? they're made in old lyme, ct, which is close to mystic. they're really yummy chips! OR Utz potato chips makes "Mystic Chips" and they have sea salt and vinegar flavored chips. http://www.utzsnacks.com/products/mysticchips.html

What are you putting in your OOT Bags? I have about 30 people staying at the hotel and no one is staying for more than one night. I have put together a welcome note with details on the shuttle to the reception but I'm at a loss for what else to include. My guests don't really need details on nearby attractions/restaurants/etc since they are all staying one night. So far here is what I think I will include:
Any ideas for some bulkier items that will take up some space in the bag??
