what about mason jars with red or brown ribbons tied around them and some flowers and greenery in each one. I think you can get mason jars for $5 per 12 pack at Wal Mart. You could use these as centerpieces or hang them up with ribbon from trees or posts. Do you have a picture of your wedding ceremony and reception sites? You could do a lot of candles on the tables. I cant remember where I saw it but there is a blog about this couple that hosted their wedding at their house and DIY almost everything – I think it would be great inspiration for you! I’ll try to find it!!

Along the mason jar idea… you can save (or dig out of neighbors recycle bins) tin cans. Paint them or punch them or do both… fill with wildflowers or a candle. Cheap but cute!
You can also buy cheap fabric in your colors, cut into squares or rectangles, flip over the top and use iron on webbing to adhere (leaving a “pocket” to string twine through) and create a flag banner. Can do the same with paper doilies and twine – just string the doilies on.
Create “twine orbs” to hang. Wrap glue soaked twine around an inflated balloon many, many times. Let dry for 48 hours, then pop the balloon. You now have an orb to hang!
Take a bunch of old photographs and hang them on a twine “clothesline” with clothespins.

the mason jar idea is kind of what im using in my august 3 wedding. Except we just bought our favorite spegetti sauce and those jars we soaked them and pulled the tag off of them and we are decorating them with hand made bows (we are using the boabra you can buy at walmart).
