There must not be many Aug 2011 brides, but I'm here!! I have thougt about it a lil but I was thinking a candy station.
Hi! I have bubbles so far..trying to narrow down what else to give!
I might do a candy buffet, but I don't know. As a guest I never really cared about favors, so I'm finding it hard to care about them as a bride.
I was thinking of doing cds of our favorite love songs as favors but we might make a donation to a charity instead...idk. My FI was diagnosed with lymphoma when he was six so we might make a donation to the Jimmy Fund. I've also thought about giving out personalized M&Ms...cause pretty much everyone likes chocolate :-)
I'm going to admit, I've flipped back and forth between a bunch of things as favours. First we were going with chocolates, then a candy buffet, then little jars of jam, and now we are thinking of little organza bags with mints. We want something that everyone will like and use, but also cheap since there will be about 200 individuals.
Anyways I hope that helps :)
I'm going a bit traditional with a twist. A little organza bag but instead of sugared almonds which we don't like we're having a praline filled chocolate heart or two and some licorice (my fiance can't survive without licorice!)
This may sound weird but we are doing beer coozies with our date and funky saying. You have to know my fiance, he is all about the coozies whenever we go to parties or anything. So we think our friends will get a kick out of it. Plus who doesn't love a coozie?
I am making homemade jars of jam! I LOVE canning and I'm really looking forward to this project. One of my BMs is going to get in on the action too (all live in CA where I'm from so she's doing the canning on her own w/a friend) - she wants everyone to grow berries, but I think that's a bit much! lol
Not an August bride anymore but I was for awhile, LOL, so I'm going to get in on the action :-)
Probably a candy/sweet buffet because edible favours are the way to go, people can choose what they want, and I love the look of them when they're done right. :-) I personally can't stand tulle anything (including bags of stuff) and I don't want to give "trinkets" so I think this is what we'll do.
We have decided to do flower bulbs wrapped in fabric w/ a ribbon tie. And on the ribbon a thank you tag, a tag w/ our address, and a tag w/ instructions on when/where to plant said bulb!
We had a friend do a candy station last fall. It was pretty awesome!
I went back and forth on a lot of things.... coasters... jars of jam.... and then after reading through a few of these posts I realized it's best to have edible and leave the trash behind favors .... and finally decided:
Orange French Macaroons with salted caramel filling. Two per guest wrapped in a celophane bag and tied with an orange ribbon. And silver stickers with our names and date on the bag. Our colors are orange and grey.
we are doing a "for the morning" take-away box. inside i am putting 2 home made mini muffins, a small bag of home made granola, 2 tea bags in a linen sachet and 2 honey sticks. we figured it would be nice for guests to take back to their rooms and have in the morning to help nurse a hangover...always good to have food on your stomach when you wake up in the AM!
I am using a fan a the wedding program so that is one favor, also I purchased cute glass coasters from the knot. com and we will put our picture in it.
missshayona I am doing a candy buffet as well are you using monogramed candy
We are doing a thank you magnet with our picture and date on it. Some candy, too.

Hey August 2011 brides! Have you decided yet what you're giving out as wedding favors?
For the ceremony our guests will have bubbles with a tag that says "Blow bubbles of good wishes for the new Mr. and Mrs."
At the reception we'll have Hershey's kisses wrapped in tulle and ribbon with a thank-you note tied on.
Are you having favors at all?
