I unfortunately don't know that much, I know my cousin got married there two? years ago and it was a pretty quick ceremony.
I would call or email the registrar or similar (who ever handles marriage licenses and whatnot) and see if they can direct you in the right direction.
Oy. I'm trying to plan something similar... small ceremony, 40 person reception. I spoke with a JoP who advertises himself for weddings, and he advised strongly against a courthouse wedding.
I told him I didn't really want a wedding-y wedding, and I thought that the courthouse was a cute idea, but he insisted that the Capitol grounds, or even the rotunda (I can give you details if you want), were better places to do it.
Honestly, there's not a lot of info out there. I know if you contact a JoP directly, they'll make an appointment with you... some even on nights and weekends. That's probably your safest bet- that way you could be sure of what time you'll start and end the ceremony portion.
On another note- I could *totally* use a local wedding planning buddy, pm me if you're interested. ;)
oh- this is the guy I spoke with: http://austinweddingjudge.com/resume.html
Hey ladies, if your interested in a great venue (seriously can not beat the price on this one! It's free!) google Wizard Acadamy! It's in the driftwood area.

I'd love to hear details from anyone that has been married at the Travis County courthouse, or any other courthouses in the area. I couldn't find any info online, other than how to apply for a marriage license.
- How did you go about choosing a judge?
- Is there a "set language" for the ceremony, or are you able to tweak that? (We want a civil ceremony with no mention of religion or deities.)
- How did the ceremony go, and was it what you expected?
- Did it run on time? (We're planning a family-only ceremony and a party afterwards with a larger group. If the ceremony runs late, that would kinda screw up post-ceremony plans.)
- Also, if you live in Travis Co., can you get married at any Texas courthouse, like the old Georgetown courthouse? I just don't think the Travis courthouse is very pretty, esp. compared to others in the area.
Thanks!!
