I’m looking for a good Aveda salon in Atlanta. My husband is returning from a deployment soon and I’d really like to get my hair done—cut and highlights. I’ve never had highlights before, so I’d like to go to a place with a good reputation and I LOVE Aveda products.
Can anyone help?!

I go to Van Michael in Buckhead and I LOVE it! They also have New Talent salon there, which is basically grad school for stylists going through Aveda training. It’s just as good and it can be much cheaper!

I second Van Michael! They have many locations- I go to the one in Norcross at the Forum. They’re fantastic!

I wouldn’t suggest the school. It can take FOREVER to get highlights from a student. We’re talking hours and hours. The price is nice if you can’t afford a more expensive salon.

So New Talents is their step after the Aveda Institute before they start working at Van Michael?! hmmmm…that may be the best of both worlds for me!
EDIT: I just booked with New Talents at Van Michael’s in Buckhead – woohoo!

Its not an Aveda salon (its Sebastian) but i swear by Lux salon in Grant Park. Mimi Lee is one of the best stylists in Atlanta!

I go to Suzanne at Stewart & Co on Roswell Rd, pretty close to the Piedmont intersection. She is great with highlights, but let us know how the student does!

@doublepuglove: I’m curious if you have anyone you recommend at the Forum for a cut? It’s near my office and I keep thinking of trying it out, but I hate just picking someone random!

What is the procedure for booking an appointment at the new talent salon?
