    Hi Bees,

What would you say is an average cost to spend on a videographer? I have found someone that is $1600 for a full day coverage about 8 hours, which includes photo montage and 1 DVD with full editing. Does this sound reasonable?

Our videographer is super talented and was only $999 for 8 hours, 3 dvds with full editing and highlights, 2 cameras for the ceremony, and 1 camera for the reception. Maybe I have just found a great deal, but your price quote sound s a little steep. I wouldn't pay $1600 for the services that you listed, but then again, we are in different regions, and I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

It does include a second photographer for the ceremony and one for reception. But wow your quote is really good.

I really searched some days long - the ones at first in the list when you google are so expensive...

But all the searching was worth it, I found a videographer, who:

    • stays 10 hours (one camera)
    • makes a 90 minutes DVD, with songs we pick as background music
    • puts everything he filmed in 10 hours on our external hard drive
    • we pick the effects (I don't want too much)

He offered to come to our place and show us some videos he already made - and they were really good.

In the end I really made a great deal: 550 €!

Ours is $1500 for 6 hours, 2 videographers.  It's expensive.  But the thing is, he is reputable in my city and frequently raved about on the boards that I just had to have him!

My venue only has one preferred/approved videographer and their cheapest package is $2900.  Now I can find another vendor but they have to submit paperwork to the venue and the venue has to approve them.  It's very frustrating, especially since my  wedding is out of state and I can't meet with vendors in person.  This particular videographer looks great, but they do cinematic style, and we want more of a documentary style, plus I'd like all the raw footage.  The film that this particular vendor gives you is the same length as the ceremony itself is going to be.

hmm. I do video/tv as well. It takes a lot of time to film and edit. Base price is usually $1200 for a cheaper cideographer and the onese that do it film style on HD base is usually $3000. Some of you got some great deals!!!!

@shanibee - I totally understand the time to edit.  I'm thinking about asking the company if they offer an option where they just provide us all the raw footage for a lower rate.  The cinematic style isn't really what we're looking for.  When I told my fiance the price he was a bit shocked, and we actually joked about flying in some of his friends who work in film and renting a camera.  If we were getting married in LA where he lives, we'd totally go that route, but we're getting married in Texas so it's a bit trickier.

    1.  2 digital cameras

    2.  2 videographers + 3 assistants

    3.  1 crane for wider angle shots

    4.  no time limit.  they were there from beginning of the day until end of the reception (roughly from 9AM until 11PM or so)

    5.  1 highlight video which was finished on the same day and shown during our reception ( http://youtube.EricAndCharie.com )
