@Sheeners:  hmm I’m not far from the city (about 30-35 min) so this is either what I’m paying or is average from what I’ve heard

photography: $3-8,000

videography: $2-3,000

flowers: $3-5,000

dj: $2-5,000 (they offer additional things like lighting, photobooths, etc. – depends what you want)

invitations: really depends- you can go cheaper and pay a few hundred dollars but I know someone who paid $5,000–crazy!

transportation: not sure, sorry

hair: $75-$150

makeup $75-175

hope that helps! 🙂

@Sheeners:  I had my wedding in Brooklyn, NY, which is about 35-60 mins from Manhattan

Photographer/Videographer- $3K-$10K (we spent $

-Flowers (bride’s bouquet, maid of honor bouquet, centerpieces)-$3K-$7K (depends on what you want, what type of flowers

-DJs-$1K-$3K

-Invitations- depends on what kind of invitations, you can spend a few hundred or a few thousand

-Transportation- depends on the car, minimum is $800, could go up in the thousands

-Hair/Makeup- Updos will cost more- so depending on what you want it could be $100 or $200. Make up $80-$150

I will now tell you what I spent

Photographer/Videographer- $4100 for 2 photographers, 1 videographer, 9 hr coverage

-Flowers (bride’s bouquet, maid of honor bouquet, centerpieces)- $2800 for 17 tall centerpieces, 4 BM bouquet, my bouquet, 8 boutiners, 3 corsages, FG basket, two baskets for the church, pews were decorated, and a floral arrangement for our sweetheart table

-DJs- $2K (two djs and 1 MC)

-Invitations-$600 (i ordered 135 invites and rsvp cards)

-Transportation- $700 (we had 1 20 passenger Escalade Limo)

-Hair/Makeup- $400

@Sheeners:  Hi! Here’s what I’ve found –

-Photographer/Videographer: we never wanted video, so I’m not sure about prices for that. For photo (6-8 hours, 2 shooters, all photo rights but no albums) it was typically $3-5k, but some were more

-Flowers (bride’s bouquet, maid of honor bouquet, centerpieces): not sure, my mom’s friend is doing ours so we didn’t look)

-DJs: $2-3k

-Invitations: I’m working on this now. Seems like you can do them online for <$1k, but for letterpress or customized design it’s >$1k

-Transportation: no idea, sorry!

-Hair/Makeup: I’m also looking into this now. My stylist said it was $250 for hair. You can also go to DryBar for $80 for an updo.  In general it seems like you can get each service individually for $100-250, or sometimes save money if you get them both from the same person. Of course there’s plenty of higher-end available too. Prices may depend on whether you want somebody to come to your home/hotel or if you’re willing to go to their salon.

Hope that helps!

@Sheeners:

Trying to get a sense of average wedding expenses. Could any of you share average prices for:

-Photographer/Videographer – Photographer (we didn’t do engagement photos): $3050 approx for 2 shooters and a photobooth. She gave us all the images, there were around 1000.

Flowers (bride’s bouquet, maid of honor bouquet, centerpieces)- No wedding party for us. For my bouquet, 10 centerpieces, corsages for mothers and bouts for DH & fathers it was $675 – and I bargained really hard for this.  If I had tons of money to spare I’d have had fancier center pieces.

DJs – $1000 – they were friends of a friend so might have given us a break on the rate.

Invitations – we DIY’d

Transportation – $630 for a double decker bus that took all of our guests back to our hotel for the after party.

Hair/Makeup for just me:  $225 for hair including the trial, $120 for make up on the day but I can’t remember what she charged for the trial (it was less, and she did 3 different looks.)

@Sheeners:  We did fairly well.  I think our best was the hotel suite that we had for the after party.  $750 for a suite that’s normally $3000/night.

We are on the “budget’ side, things are crazy expensive here but this is what I’ve experienced on the LOW end for our area.

Photography $2,500+

Flowers $3,000+

DJ $800+ without lights, or $1,000+ with lights

Invitations $500+

Transportation depends on what you want and for how long, most places averaged around $350 an hour with a four hour minimum not including taxes and tip.

Hair and make up $350+
