By the time the wedding rolls around my Fiance and I will have lived together for 4.5 years. We have most of our household items and we don’t live in a large house. So filling the house with stuff is not something we would like. One of my good friends who just got married did not have a registry and she said that was her biggest mistake because “people want to buy things for you because they are happy for you and want to celebrate your union.”
I know there is much debate on honeymoon registries on and off of the bee but that’s what we’re doing. I would like to do a smaller traditional registry for some older members of our families who don’t use the internet…EVER. This registry would be very small, max of 20 items. Our guest list is about 180 or so people and we expect 130 will be able to make it.
Our honeymoon registry will likely total $6K mainly because of airfare to SE Asia. I am very worried that this amount is just too high. I’ve googled average wedding registry value and google is failing me. It keeps telling me the average cost of a wedding…duh I know what that is…
Does anyone know? What is your registry valued at?

I asked the same question a while back, and it seems to vary greatly based on the region and the family. I would either base your amount off of recent family weddings or ask your parents and in-laws what they think an appropriate amount is.

On my side I am the most recent bride in 10 years!
My FI’s cousin got married recently and did a honeymoon registry as well as a traditional registry. I didn’t add up the amounts but when we told them we were of doing a honeymoon registry they highly recommended it and suggested we go with the site they used (which I’m now drawing a blank on.) We bought a gift from each I believe…I couldn’t make up my mind what to get them. 🙂

This is a very good question!
You can start by taking this into account, the average purchase is approximately $150 per guest. So, if you’re inviting 100 people to your wedding and the average is $150 per guest, then the total value of your registry should be around $15 000.
Though that is the average purchase – keep into account that not all will be spending that much on your gift – vary proce points on your registry to accomodate everyone’s budget!
You can find more on how much to add to your registry here on our blog: http://weddingrepublic.com/blog/how-much-to-put-on-your-wedding-registry/
