It honestly depends on the quality. It's hard to say without seeing. I've seen 600 (low quality) all the way up to like 2k.
Wow, $2K for a videographer? I live in So. Cal. and I'm getting estimates for twice as much for the basic package.
Wow! 2k for a highlight video!! Holy moly. And I'm in SF Bay area area so I'm used to high prices.
He just came back with $500 for highlight and raw footage on DVD. I really liked the video so I think we're going to go for it. It seems to be decent quality. I've seen better....but I've also seen a lot worse. I'm sure it would cost me a lot more to have him do something with the extra footage - but I'll see if I can have a friend do that. At least we'd have it...
Thanks!

$500 is actually a pretty good price. Plus since you got raw footage, you could always download a free video edit software and add music and make you own wedding video if you are feeling ambitious. My fiance downloaded a free video software to fix our save the date video that we did and the videographer we used was giving us a lot of issues, so he just decided to do it himself. He made the video even better. He changed the song and deleted a part in our video that we did not find appropriate for the video and we will be emailing the video link (via vimeo) in a few weeks to announce our engagement. I am totally excited for it.
@meowmix318: Thanks for the info!
I talked it over with my husband and he agreed he could probably do something with the raw footage as well. He happens to have really good software for this already. So.....we got the highlight vid and are waiting for the raw footage!!
I really like the mini vid - that in itself was pretty worth it to me!
Here it is:
Thanks for the help Bees!
@Dub D: The poster was asking about a highlight video, not full videography services.

Hello Bees,
We didn't actually hire a videopgrapher, but our photographer happened to bring along his friend who is just getting into the vid business and was willing to shoot our wedding for free and then would sell it to us if we liked it. Yay! So, he already finished a short wedding highlight video which was really nice and will be getting back to us on price. I want to say it was about 6 minutes long. We weren't really planning on getting vid, but of course when you see it - its so nice to relive the day :)
He's also got raw footage he'd be willing to give us (but not sure how much time worth). He's getting back to us on that too.
For those of you who got video, what were the costs? Since he is just starting out, I'm not expecting he would charge toooo much, but I don't know what it normally costs, so getting ideas would be helpful.
Thanks for the help!
