Am I totally missing something... looks like a normal invite to me ?
ETA: OH!! I didn't read. haha. that's kind of hilarious :) Its nice they can laugh I guess... but its also kind of sad.
@ Corgi Tales,
I think that it is about two females "destroying" the sanctity of marriage-LOL because they are a couple --that (IMO ridiculous) arguement that same sex couples destroy the "sanctity of marriage" because they are not a heterosexual couple!
@ Monitajb -So GREAT!!! Congrats to all MARRIED LGBTQ couples!!!
Wow... I actually don't think it's funny. I don't think committing your life to someone is something to make a joke of. I would think this would be offensive to gay people and to those opposed to gay marriage.. a lose/lose. Am I the only one? I'm interested to see what some of our lesbian bees think of this. For the record.. I'm super pro gay marriage.. which I guess it part of it since I believe a gay marriage to be just as sanctified as my straight marriage.
@Moose: I think it is hilarious! I always enjoy weddings if the couple has a sense of humor about it. Definitely more fun than traditional uptight weddings.
I also don't believe there is much sanctity in marriage, it is just a legally binding contract. If it there truly was sanctity then divorce would not be allowed or remarriage after a divorce would not be allowed. Sanctity implies that it is God's will and if divorce can happen, then he isn't doing his job or it was never sanctified.
I'm not very religious either so that might be why I don't think sanctity is the appropriate term.
@moose - i'm sure the couple in the invite do, too. They're just being funny.
hahaha. i think that's awesome. there's nothing offensive about it - as, to me, they're just trying to have a sense of humor about it. :) it's priceless. :D
Oh man, thats awesome! I think they are taking a jab at the opponents of gay marriage and just trying to have a sense of humor about an unfair situation. I dont think its offensive at all.
Well I guess I'm just a stick in the mud : ( Either way, they like it and that's what matters!
@ MOOSE: I understand where you are coming from. Some things are okay to joke about, some are not. If they carried this theme into the wedding ceremony, I would NOT think that was funny. I'm one of those people who thinks that video of people dancing down the aisle to Chris Brown (really?) is appalling.
On the other hand, this is just the invite. To me, having a sense of humor and being a little punk rock in the invite is okay. Its the CEREMONY, IMO, which should be sincere and heartfelt.
These are funny!
I think that if the couple who chose the invites are OK with the joke, then there is no reason to have ruffled feathers, because it is a joke.
I can see how other gay couples may be offended by this, but it's not their wedding. And they aren't making a joke out of their wedding, they're poking fun at society, not their relationship.
awesome....LOVE IT!! From one same-sex couple to another, I just want to say......CONGRATS LADIES!!
