Hey ladies! I have been out of comission with severe back pain over the past couple of days… well two weeks really but the last two days were the worst! So I will give you a little history just in case something similar comes up for any of you ladies… Pregnancy doesnt have to hurt so badly!!
Since about week 8 I have been having sporadic pain in my lower right side (right back, hip, buttocks, leg). The pain never lasted too long and I would get these weird spasms but nothing too serious.
Around week 14 I started to experience more pain when I would put weight on my right side. i thought this was just another side effect so I dismissed it. Well at week 15 I was in so much pain, I could hardly move and couldnt put any weight on my right side. I looked up my symptoms and thought it might be sciatica. I tried doing yoga poses, drank more water, etc. The pain never really let up. I was able to walk around most of the time but I only felt relief when I took a warm bath.
I went to get a massage this past saturday and was told there was a knot of some sort at my right hip. I could feel it so I figured it was something she could work out. Wrong! I went to the doctor on Monday and he referred me to a physical therapist.
My diagnosis- apparently I have joints in my right hip area and lower right pelvis that are locked causing the muscles around them to remain tense and thus put pressure on my sciatic nerve. This morning was my first physical therapy appointment. They taught me some excercises to loosen my joints and strengthen my muscles. I am supposed to go back 2-3 times a week until I am no longer experiencing the pain.
Sorry for the long story… I have just been in agony over the past couple of weeks and I am so thankful to know what is wrong and how I can fix the issue. Soon I can go back to feeling like a happy pregnant woman again! I also want you to benefit from this experience should you have any of these pains and feel helpless.
