I just watched the new show Mobbed that I recorded on Thursday. It was cute! The first episode focused on a guy (Justin) who wanted to propose to his girlfriend (Nikki) of almost 3 years. He said she had jealousy issues so he wanted it to be big so that she would know how committed he is to her.
They organized 1017 flash mob dancers. Justin pretended to take Nikki to a VIP movie night out. They had an actress pretend to be a fling or an ex-gf of Justin’s who threw water in his face when she found out that Nikki was his girlfriend. I thought this was a horrible idea and I would’ve been pissed if it was me! She got so upset and even told him she would kill him if he was playing around because it just wasn’t funny. So they pull Justin away to change his wet shirt and they then cheer up Nikki. People in the lobby start singing and dancing, then people in the restaurant, then in the courtyard, and it just gets bigger and bigger. She was crying the whole time and I couldn’t help crying just watching!
At the end, Justin proposes to her and then he asks her not only to marry him, but to marry him right at that second! People start dancing again and they throw a wedding dress on her and lead her down the aisle. They had flown in all of her family and friends at least. I’d probably be thinking… “Well there go all my wedding plans out the window!”
It was adorable though. If you haven’t seen it, you should check it out on hulu.com or something! Here’s a kind of crappy youtube link that someone recorded that shows the proposal though.

i heard about this but didn’t see it until now. i loved the idea of the flash mob proposal but i’m not a fan of the wedding. i’m too much of a control freak to let that happen. lol. all i could think about was how she didn’t even get to pick her dress or brush her hair! or walk down the aisle with her dad.
though i do wonder if this is all legal. don’t you need to get your marriage license first? how’d they swing that?

btw, if anyone’s interested – i just started watching from like the 23 min mark (poor girl!!!)

That was so sweet! I wouldn’t do the wedding that way, though, even if it sort of snuffed out his whole big plan. I’d want control over details (and the dress is a huge detail!). The proposal was adorable, though, and she was just so excited!!

I cried too!!!!!! AWWWWW!!!! I agree with PP I’d want to have some control over the wedding… but I might just go ahead do it there and then plan another ‘vow renewal’ for all my friends XD

I cried too! Though I wish they’d at least have buttoned up her dress. I mean, it was incredibly sweet that her bridesmaids were picked out for her and her family was able to be there, but it couldn’t have been legal (no wedding license, as someone pointed out before). She could definitely have a celebratory reception or something for the remainder of her family and friends.
But I thought the proposal (apart from the splashing of water – why couldn’t he have just gone to the bathroom or something?) was incredibly amazing and sweet.

Awe I just watched up to the proposal but I was still crying!! I think my guy knows better than to do the wedding part though lol
