Maybe give us an idea of the things he likes...I know that fishing/hunting gear is always welcomed by Mr Lily. That said, a lot of times I end up getting him a gift card to some sporting goods store and let him pick out his own present. For us that works because he doesn't get something he hates and I don't have to freak out trying to find the "perfect gift." It seems impersonal, but like I said, it works for us.
oh! I just realized, at the craft shop I saw a firefighter shadow box. It was awesome! :)
This is a GREAT post, Miss Poodle! I am in the same boat. My FI's birthday is a week before the wedding and I have no idea on what to get him. Well I have one but it is a little expensive right now since we are paying for the wedding.
So, I am looking for ideas too. Let's see what people can come up with.
Anything personalized - my FI likes to collect cigars so for his b-day I'm planning on getting him a personalized cigar cutter and lighter. For christmas, I'll probably personalize the cigar humidifier.
As dorky as it is there is always the _____ of the month club. I was thinking of having the mister receive a new flavor of beef jerky or BBQ sauce every month. He appreciates little things like that.
My FH's b-day is two weeks before our wedding. I'm giving him one of my boudior pictures framed (he's getting the albulm as his wedding present) and a really nice leather necklace (he wants to wear his wedding band on a necklace because he's worried about having his finger ripped off at his job).
What about a journal that y'all can write to each other in? Y'all are long distance for a couple of more months right? It would be a nice way to keep a record of your story and relationship.
How about a hot steamy romantic night together? Pull out all the stops :)
Cost 0, and in my experience talking with men they like that better than anything! :)

@Miss Lily I actually thought about buying him something "mountain hardware" because is a FAN of that brand but the only "not so expensive" thing I found where a pair of gloves lol - which of course he already has
@Jaidee actually the cigars thing could be a really cool gift, I'll look if I can find something like that!
@IA Snowflake I wanted to give him boudoir as his B-day present but I was thinking on keeping that as the wedding present too! I wish his b-day was closer to the wedding so I could do what you going to :)
@KateMW That is such a cute idea!!! and yup we will be apart until September and his B.day is This month, so it could be prefect!!
@robinowen hehe I bet it will be the best!! but I will not be with him until a month after his B-day :P
I forgot to mention that there is a cigar of the month club too (if your interested going that route)

I've been crazy busy this past weeks, I know I should have worked on some creative idea to surprise Mr. Poodle last weekend but I wanted to do BeeTV!!! lol
We never go for the expensive presents and usually we made things to each other, to give all of you an idea last year I made him Pants and a photo album with our story together - the year before that, I made him a framed fire tuck (he's a firefighter) that I Illustrated and texturized with photos of us again (yeah I have a thing for photos :P)
I've been so stressed over our visa tuff, the moving, projects for the wedding and work that at this poin ANY suggestion will be truly and very appreciated! :)
