My fiance and I are taking a week to go on our honeymoon this summer right after our wedding. My friend who is getting married next year arranged for her bridesmaids (including me) to go on an all day bridesmaid dress shopping excursion on a Saturday, the day after I return from my honeymoon. I would like to go and support her, but I also will be exhausted and have a ton to do before returning to work on Monday.
Is it rude for me to say I’m busy? Should I just suck it up and deal with being stressed out at having to spend the day shopping instead of opening wedding gifts with my husband, etc.?

Maybe you can join them for a few hours instead of the whole day? Hopefully she’ll understand that you need a few days to collect yourself after all your wedding activities!

If she hasn’t checked if the date is convenient, she hasn’t really arranged for you all to go, has she? She’s arranged to go and assumes you’ll show up.
One of my BMs got married recently and I wouldn’t have dreamed of expecting her to shop for her dress the day after she got back from honeymoon. I wouldn’t expect my BMs to do anything without asking them for a convenient date.

Ask nicely for a date change and see what happens. It’ll be hard but as a bride she probably wants them sorted asap (in a bride’s mind everything is urgent )
