I've been to a few parties after baptisms and it's mostly been just family gatherings. I will say no one ever had favors at any of them. I don't think it's neccessary to have them in this case.
We had a family reception (small, about 10 people) at a restaurant after Addie's baptism. Since we were doing it at a restaurant, we didn't have much in terms of decorations, just a few small bubble vases of yellow and purple tulips. We also didn't do invites or favors; it was pretty low-key.
I bet you could modify baby shower decorations to fit a baptism reception. Do you have a theme or colors in mind?
I've been to quite a few baptism's but the receptions are either really low key family (think almost pot luck style...kinda reminds me of a wake after a funeral) or at a restaurant. I've never heard of one with a theme and/or favors.
Oh wow, then my family must not be the norm, lol. We have around 100 family members to invite. So, doing something at a restaurant is out of the question even though I would love to do it. Hubby wanted to do something at our home, but our house is not huge enough to hold 100 people comfortably in my opinion. We are thinking of using my in-laws house, but didn't really have any ideas in mind about decor. We've also been to a couple baptisms and communions with favors, but I think we've both decided that we'd rather spend the money on better food and/or cake.
Ours was small and low-key at our country clubs restaurant with just simple floral arrangements and cheesecake :) But I think you could have beautiful flowers, great food and favors would be fun! But I don't know what you'd give as a favor...and edible one?!
We're still working on getting ours done, but it will be small and low-key as well.
I'm so jealous of all your small, low-key events, I wish I could talk the hubby into one!
@Lillindy: Do you have yours planned yet? What did you end up deciding on?
@Sulli301: We thought we had a date set so I could get the planning underway, but there have been a few issues we need to figure out, so I've been holding off for now. I'm trying to gather ideas for the invite and for the party decor in the meantime, though. We aiming to have it in August still, but may have to wait until October.

Hey mommas!
We are in the process of planning our son's baptism and there's almost nothing out there as far as parties. Did any of you baptize/christen your baby and have a party after? If so, any cute decor you want to share? Or anyone have anything cute they've seen? Also, we are thinking we aren't going to do favors unless we find something we can't pass up, but did you all do favors?
