I was due Jan 17th, but my daughter had other ideas and an induction was scheduled for the 24th. Since that gave me one more weekend to spend with my husband, we planned on spending some nice quality time together, one last time before the baby arrived. So we got caught up with the yardwork and housework, cleaned up and prepared to go out for a nice dinner.
As we were waiting on our table, I started to get some contractions. Since I had other false alarms, I assumed this was one of them, but decided to start timing them anyway. They started out at 5 minutes apart and about a minute long. I didn't want to admit that I could be in labor, because I was really looking forward to that night out so we continued waiting for out table. We got our table, ordered our meal and then I felt a "pop". I went to the bathroom to check things out and realized I had my bloody show and my water had broken. I felt like it was a scene out of a movie. I had to go back to the table, soaking my pants with each step, tell my husband what happened and try to get our dinner to go.
On the way to the hospital, my contractions started to get intense and once we were there, I asked for an epidural immediately (yes, I know, I'm a wuss - I give all you "natural" ladies serious props!). After the epidural kicked in, I was able to relax and just wait to finish dialating. By 7am the following morning, I was fully dialated and effaced - all we had to do was wait on the doctor to come in. Once he was there, it only took 3 pushes for her to come out. I only ended up with a very minor tear and some skid marks.
So, here is my beautiful little girl when she was 1 day old - 7lbs, 0 oz.
Congratulations! She's beautiful! (And that little pink elf hat is SO CUTE!)
