Lucas and Wesley are two of my favorite name so I can see why you are torn! I like the name Wesley better with your last name. I know someone who has a son named Wesley but they just call him Wes which, I think, is adorable!

I actually really like Lucas Randal. And your husband obviously likes it. Obviously, I think you should get a say in the decision, but if you don’t have another name that you really love, there’s nothing wrong with going with the name your husband likes.

I’m 35 weeks and we are STILL going around and around about names. There are a lot of times I wish my husband would be as adamant about a name as yours is being. Still, you SHOULD have a say in it, it’s not solely up to him.  But if you aren’t specifically opposed to it, and don’t have anything you love instead, l then I don’t see anything wrong with going with it if he’s super into it.

I think that Nathan Randal sounds nice.

I love the name Lucas.  In all honesty, no matter what you name your kid people will figure out a way to make fun of it or make it rhyme with something not very nice.  I was called Step-on-me (for Stephanie) until I realized that kids would stop calling me that if I stepped on their foot hard.

blondiegirl:  Remind them that almost every name rhymes with something, and that even if it doesn’t, some mean kid will still find something to make fun of your kid for regardless of what his name is.

blondiegirl:  I can understand that. It would be different if there was some other name that you love. But it kind of sounds like you’re looking for another name so that it can be your name instead of his name. And I think that’s a bad reason to pick a name. But I think you can certainly keep thinking and see if you find something you love as much as your husband loves Lucas. But if you go with Lucas, I think it’s a great name!

blondiegirl:  If it was me i’d go for Wesley! I think its nice that its after your dad and I don’t think it will remind you of him everytime, once you have your baby boy you’ll associate the name with him. There may still be times down the road that it pops up but its a lovely tribute to him!

If you’re not 100% on Lucas just be clear with your husband. Its as much your decision as it is his. You don’t want to be calling your child a name you don’t love for the rest of your life!
