We want to come up with a name that's not common (nothing in the top 50 most popular names) but not too weird either... kinda like my name. ![]()
Please give us your best baby boy name suggestions!
How about Jay? hehe I just thought that'd be cute since it's another letter name and I like it as a name too. I'm not sure if that'd be too popular though.
Oh I have lots! I love the names Jian (pronounced Jee an) and Ian. Jai and Ryan are also favorites of mine.
If we ever have a boy, we like the name Henry Richard (our fathers middle names). I also really like Paul and James (still somewhat common).
Oh, do you have a preference for what letter you want his name to start with?
I love :
Miles
Cage (though Mr.F would never agree to that)
Zane
Bailey
its tough...
We haven't thought about it at all! Mr. Bee has been referring to the baby as baby Bella or Baby Edward haha.
We will most definitely give a separate Korean name, and possibly a Japanese name in addition to his American name, so this will be a boy with one long name!
One of my girlfriends named her son Finnian, which is one of my favorite names. He's a 3 week old bundle of love right now!
i love the idea of using family names. My favorite at the moment is Cooper. I like Edward too!
I use Bella and Edward because I hate Twilight... so using those names won't jinx them!
I don't want to name the baby until the birth... but we'll see how that goes over with Bee!
I also like the name August, from the movie August Rush. Although since he won't be born in (and obviously wasn't concieved in!) August, that might be weird. But it's different and I like it. Cooper is another good one.
John would be cute, maybe JJ for a nickname ;) Jay is also a great idea and can be spelled Jai because it's a cool name like Bee and on the popularity list last year it was #395 so I don't think it was overly popular.
Well I work as a teacher in Spain and here are my students' names and friends' names:
Gonzalo, Jose Antonio, Javier, Victor, Ricardo, Jaime (hImay), Juan Diego, Luis, Daniel, Clifford, Pablo, Hector, Enrique, Antonio, Fernando, Miguel, Manuel...
Good luck!
I love the name Steven. You can shorten it to Steve when he's young, but Steven when he's an adult!
my SO and i like to name our futures kids off free way exits. there are some creative ones out there. we like the name sheldon!
We feel you on the creative name thing. We've been brainstorming and have a running list. But for our Baby Bee, how about ... I don't know, but I'm so excited for the two of you!!!
Sheldon reminds me of the show Big Bang Theory! Love that show and I love the name Sheldon.
Maybe even taking a name that's somewhat common (depending on where you live) and changing the spelling? For example: Eric -> Aric. Just a thought :)
I second the name August! That's the name of one of my FI's nephews, but they call him Gus. I have a think for Latin and Roman names, so my other favorite boy names are Caelum, which is pronounced ky-lum, meaning "sky". I would call him Cael (Kyle) for short. I also like the idea of Nox Caelum, meaning "night sky". I also love the name Roman for a boy. Ugh. When am I going to get over this obsession??
Congrats, Mr. and Mrs. Bee!
I love the name Michael David (my son's name)...but his name was almost John Robert (named after my beloved father and a grandfather who are now gone). My nephew's name is Jackson Carter (love that too!).
First off -- Mr. and Mrs. Bee I AM SOOOOO happy for you! I tried to reply to the blog post but there was a database error. I know how important this must be for you, I wish you all the happiness!!!
On to names... I like Emmett and Daniel.
What was the bottle of wine you guys were drinking that night? Could you adapt a name from there?? hehe j.k, sort of.
I love short and easy to say names, like Jay and Sheldon! (great ideas!)
As someone with an unusual/hard to spell name, I wish people would stop doing that! Spelling it out gets old.
I've done a bit of teaching and grading, and common names that are spelled differently can REALLY get awkward and make things harder. Think Krystal, and now where would I find that in the alphabetized list?
I like the names Spencer, Carter and Conner...but my fiance hates when "last names" are used as first names. So I think all of those are out. I also love the name Josiah. But I wouldn't want him to be called Joe. :)
My last name is a common first name -- Kim -- so most people call me by my last name!
Well Mrs. Bee everybody thinks MY first name is a guy's name ya know? And when I marry T it's gonna sound like i'm an extra on the Sopranos..
My son's name means "Who is like God" (Michael) and "beloved" (David).
Btw..my son was almost named "John Robert". John means "God is Gracious" and Robert means "Bright Fame".
Aww, Gus is such a cute name! The wine idea is also a good one, is it something that maybe you can make a name out of?
I think it's good sometimes to run the meanings of the two names together to get a feel also. For example if you take the 2 meanings of my son's name it means "Beloved who is like God". I just see him as a little blessing from God, definitely beloved by me.
How about trying that out? Put out a bunch of name you both like and see how the meanings mesh together.
bellenga -- I like to know what names mean too .. I think its important in the naming process, instead of just picking name 'cause it sounds pretty. My first name "Gabrielle" means "God is my strength". I still have my prayer card that has my name on it. my middle name "Elizabeth" is "God's promise/God is my oath" so together, to me, it is a promise of God's strength.
I love Jake and Nicholas (I always wanted a Nicky but I'm marrying one and we aren't a fan of juniors so that's out). Aidan. Matthew.
Congrats again! I can't imagine what a wonderful thing this is for you two
Why not just go with a japanese name?
I've always like Mamoru, but that's cuz I was into sailor moon ;), and Tamahome (from fushigi yuugi). What about Damien? Tasuke? Sosuke? (little sosuke in Ponyo on the Cliff was so cute!!!)
I'm no help - I really like japanese names :)
other than that, I think scandinavian names sound cool -bjorn, einar, Eyvindar, Geirolf, Ivar, Sven, Swan (actually a french boy's name), Rainor, Yngvar
Well my son is a II and my guy is a IV and his son is a V! Lots of initials and numbers in this family. Just how we roll.
But I love the meaning behind a name and carrying on a family name to me is like a little piece of eternity and a wonderful way to forever honor a loved one.
Oooh for a Japanese name I love Yusaku! I really like Jack or Jake, but for something more unique...Keith, Thor, Christoph, Brent, Bradson, Owen, Ewan.
