I think if you're going to do darker drapes, fabric and (potentially) walls, then white furniture would pop really nicely. If you do the walls a lighter colour, then you could get away with darker furniture. I love that polkadot print on the bottom right! So cute!! It's not over the top baby. I'm a big fan of the more modern nurseries personally :)
i really like the modern look to it. i like to that its not to "baby" and he can use the style for a couple years and wont grow out of it! (besides growing out of the crib, ofcoarse!) LOL. i love the 2 pillows.
I agree with the others you should stick with white furniture. I LOVE the colors/designs you've picked. And what I really like is that with all the green it doesn't scream baby boy so you could totally reuse most/all of it if you have a baby girl some day.
I like it but I would steer clear of darker furniture. It will be WAY too dark in that room. I would add some more lighter colors. Green and yellow are really good gendar neutral colors. Even some light blue rather than the dark would look really good. Otherwise, I do like where you are going.
I think brown and navy could work if you had a lot of white or light green to make it not so dark.
I think those colors would look cute with pops of orange here and there. I don't know why I love blue green and orange. I actually just decorated a baby shower in those colors. I told mommy to be different all boy showers and blue and white, lets do something else and she bought it.
Lillindy, we bought that same rug for our son's nursery and I definitely recommend it! It is very soft and plush. I also like the idea of the white furniture or a lighter wood furniture. I think the fabric and rug will pop that much more if the furniture is light.
@Lillindy: We are thinking of using that same fabric in our nursery (but we are team green). We are going to use a dark tourquoise and a light lime green and an off white. I am really excited.
Are you sewing the stuff yourself? I think the Bananafish Joshua uses the same fabric as the Modern Zoo/2-D Zoo fabric that you can buy per yard but I'm not sure. I think we are going to try to sew ourselves.
I am thinking I am going to use the pattern for a crib skirt, a pillow, and then maybe a few accessories (mobile or lamp shade). Other than that I am looking at the stripes and solids on everything else.
By the way, I agree with others, I think a look like this looks much better with white furniture.
@SecretName: Oh wow, never heard of Bananafish before, off to look into it. Thanks! :)
@Lillindy: The only issue I have with the bananafish set is that they use the pattern for most everything and it makes the room look very busy.
If you go on their website though they will send you a 3x3 swatch of the fabric for free. Mine came pretty quickly and its great to see all the colors in person.
@SecretName: That's a great tip, thank you! Yeah, I saw that with that set. If I do use that fabric, I'd want to keep it to just one sheet, or one pillow, or one blanket since it's such a busy print.
@Lillindy: Also, I think I found that you can actually buy the fabric with either a large print or a small print. Depending on what you are making both might work well!
@SecretName: Thank you again, I like that there are options for the sizes of the pattern on the fabric.
Got a couple of things ordered, can't wait to put it all together! :)

I've been playing around with how to decorate our boy's room, but we want to get things finalized soon since he'll be here before we know it. What do you think if we went this route? Anything you would add/remove/change?
BTW: Ignore the wallpaper, we won't be going that route. ;) We have light tan walls instead. Also, we're leaning towards darker furniture.
