I have found some GREAT deals online on khols I suggest you look there! and you dont have to get tiny clothes because that is all you will ALOT of those at your baby shower.
I'm in FL so I have no advice about winter clothes... but I do suggest you wait a little bit until your shower if you can. We got tons of clothes at our shower, I didn't buy anything myself. I figure I'll wait to see how big she is when she comes out (I'm measuring a little big) so I don't want a ton of newborn clothes anyway, and I can always buy more later.
As long as you are not the type to care where the clothes come from then Goodwill or 2nd hand stores are your best bet for baby clothes. I have found them many times with the tags still on them. I am also having a boy and it can be more difficult but Walmart and Target typically have a decent selection. I won't say great...but decent.
For clothes I am buying bigger anyway due to the fact DH family has a tendency to have big babies. That and I know he will grow into the clothes as it is.
As for clothes where they come from 2nd hand is A Okay with me! They are usually cheaper!
Just am finding that in general there are bigger and more selections for girl clothes vs boy clothes!
I think the problem is that you are too late for winter clothes- the clearance sales for them happen in March , April etc.
You don't really need winter clothes per se for babies, except for something to wear outside and they only need one of those. They aren't walking and the don't get their snowsuits dirty unless they spit up on it.
They all wear onesies, sleepers etc and you can layer things up if it is cold.
If you want to use the pink snowsuit to keep him warm, you could alwasy make a sleepsac type thing to put over top of the pink in a color your DH would like.
Oh Oh Oh.....if you are not afraid to try it you could always dye the pink suit another color. It depends on the material but most materials like that can be dyed and he might be ok if it has pink zippers and the rest is black or dark blue or something like that....
Ugh. I hear ya. I was so frustrated when my son was born...there are SO many options for girls. But only two dinosaur or car onesies for boys.
Do you by chance live near a Burlington Coat Factory? They really have the best baby boy's clothing selection I've seen without costing an arm and a leg (think Target prices).
I got all my nephew's stuff there and he's a December baby.
If you're not opposed to secondhand, thredup.com is a pretty cool site for finding gently used baby clothes. There are a ton of different sizes and seasons on there.
@KatyElle: I used to live near one, not anymore.
@dcdt212: I will have to try that web site out!
@Storm0075: Yeah we will prob try dying it to make it a differ color. I can't justify buying a differ one when this one was an awesome price.
@julies1949: True, but I would like to find other stuff other than sleepers. There are still clearance sales around here for winter stuff, so that not the problem. The problem is most of the stuff is girl stuff as in pink winter dresses.
I second what a previous poster said about waiting on buying clothes. My daughter is 10 weeks old and I have only bought her one onsie and one pair of pants (both clearanced for a dollar at target). I don't anticipate having to buy clothes until she's in 12-18 months because of everything I received at my shower or from overly eager grandparents.
@LpCutiPie: I agree. We got a ridiculous amount of clothes for our boy at the shower - people like to pick out clothing. We ended up with THREE snowsuits for a June baby so I'm sure you'll get plenty of warm clothing.
The other thing is that if he's born in Nov - you won't really have him outside that much so if you have long sleeved things you should be fine - because really you'll be changing him so often you don't want him in anything too bulky. You really just need a decent amount of reciving and warm blankets to bundle him in. One thing that you WILL want is a cover for his carrier that you can zip to protect him from the cold when you're going to and from the car.
I've been staying away from buying baby clothes because I expect to get/got a lot of clothes at baby showers (as we did at the first shower we had-- 1 more shower to go), but also because I can fill in any gaps left from baby shower clothing acquisitions with plain ol' cheap onesies and footie pajamas for winter-- really, baby doesn't care if he's dressed super awesome cute-- he just wants to be warm and comfortable.
That said, I have caught myself wandering through baby clothes sections of stores, and I've also been frustrated by the lack of baby boy clothes compared to the girls things. Boo!
I also really like the dollar store by our house...they actually have a pretty good selection of gender-neutral clothing. :) That is, in addition to Burlington and Target... though Target doesn't have a big Boy's section. I think that is our trade off for having boys. But, maybe I have to do laundry more often...at least I won't always be tempted to spend a fortune like I would on a girl. Plus, I have a niece I can spoil! :)
I buy all of Addie's clothes from www.thredup.com. It's a clothing exchange site, so you pay like $10 for a box of used clothes, and then when your baby outgrows those, you can exchange the old clothes for new ones at a really minimal cost. It's awesome, especially since babies outgrow clothes soooooooo quickly. I practically bought stock in 0-6 month clothes after Addie was born, and she grew so quickly, there were some outfits I never even took the tags off of. What a waste!
We're expecting a boy too, so I know what you mean! But I look at it as a blessing in disguise - this way I'm not tempted to spends lots of money on the too-cute girl stuff!
I was going to suggest second hand stores as well...it's unbelievable what you can get for next to nothing, and with the tags still on in a lot of cases!
Two words - garage sales. Depending on where you live, many people advertise if they have baby clothes, because they go like hot cakes. And you tend to get very gently used items for under $1. One of my friends scoured garage sales before her due date and arranged items in totes according to sizes. I think the baby is now 16 months old and the mom is still working her way through her totes.

Sigh why is it so hard to find baby boy clothes? I am all for babies wearing neutral/other gender clothes. But I am finding a lot of stores have way more girl clothes to boy clothes.
DH and I are having our first child Mid Nov so we need everything. We are having a boy so I am slowing starting to stock up on baby winter clothes. Unfortunately most of my friends either have no kids or have kids who are teenagers so they don't have baby clothes I can even go through. And my baby shower isn't until beginning of Oct.
I thought maybe could find on clearance winter clothes either in neutrals or boys. I am having a hard time finding such things.
Though I am kinda annoyed, I found an awesome deal on a snow suit for 5 bucks, it retailed for $75 so I got an awesome deal. Only thing is it is pink! I don't care if our little boy is wearing pink but DH is having a hissy fit. It was an awesome deal and who cares if he is wearing pink.
