As the title says, baby craze. Both DH and I are there. Our desire for one of our own is peaking and I for one am really excited. Things are falling into place as we settle as a couple. Unlike other couples who want to enjoy travelling, setting up as a couple, we’re big on family and having our own. I wanted to share because, the excitement is building up….
That being said, I want some advice from other bees on I guess prep health wise I guess and what TTC methods, food….idk to help the process. For eg. I saw an add on t.v. for clear blue easy fertility monitor. I don’t want to get all regimented in TTC, but I do want to make sure on my end that I’m doing the best that I can health wise etc.

If you haven’t been lately, go to the doctor. After a blood panel, my doctor recommended re-getting an MMR vaccine since I wasn’t immune to rubella and it’s so dangerous for pregnant ladies and children. She also recommended I get on prenatals asap to elevate iron, b12 and folic acid. I’m also slowly trying to get off caffeinated beverages, particularly coffee and diet coke. Good luck!

Thanks…..It’s going to be a rough set of months having to give up wine and coffee……but I made today my last day for coffee….Thanks for the doctor information. Other advice welcomed.

SKyAlex: You actually don’t have to give up coffee I just wouldn’t recommend drinking it in excess 🙂 DH and I were just discussing that today lol.

Don’t give up wine until you get a BFP. There’s no need 🙂
and cut back caffeine, but 1-2 cups of coffee or cans of soda a day is fine.
I’d also read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Even if you don’t go all out with TTC (OPKs, taking your temp, etc) it’s a great way to learn how the body works. Getting pregnant is a lot more involved than they make it sound in school 🙂

SKyAlex: Congrats! When are you thinking you’ll start TTC? I’d get on prenatals asap, make sure they have folic acid in them, or add folic acid to your regular daily vitamin routine. And if you’re looking to get into charting your cycles to know the best time to BD, check out FertilityFriend.com!

SKyAlex: I concur with PPs that there’s no reason to give up wine or coffee until you get a BFP, unless you just want to cut back to get yourself used to it. Starting to take folic acid is really the important thing prior to actually getting pregnant, so start a prenatal vitamin ASAP. Not a bad idea to be sure you’re up on all your vaccinations, as PP commmented. But I there isn’t really a whole lot that you need to do. Start prenatals, go off birth contriol and have sex! You can always get into more tests or charting your cycles if it’s taking a while to get pregnant.
