So the nesting urge has fully hit. I am due Jan 3, but I am measuring large and my midwife said because the women in my family go into earlier labour i have a higher chance of not making it to my due date. So I am preparing for a pre-xmas or xmas baby just in case.
But here is my issue, do I get a little stocking and a few little gifts for him (even though he doesn’t freaking now what is happening) or do I just leave it for this year and if he is here, he is here, if not, do the stocking and presents next year?
What would you do?

Oh I’d have a sticking for sure- even if there was not really anything in it. You will use in the coming years- so it won’t be a waste and it would be adorable!

Thats if you go into labor early, you could buy a few things to have on hand just in case you do have your bundle of joy before christmas. I wouldn’t go crazy though on christmas gifts the baby will be so little.

I would get a stocking and just fill it with a few little things. A cute teddy, a tiny Santa/Christmas hat and maybe a blanket. Things that will (other than the little hat for cuteness) be useful anyway but so that if he does arrive before Christmas you can get some cute photos!

In our family, we typically have little presents/stockings for the babies of my pregnant SILs, regardless of their due date! Nothing crazy, but a little toy or outfit. Not bc it is necessary, but bc we are all so excited and it is cute! I’d go with that.

I would get a newborn size Christmas pajama just in case. You will want the photos with baby in Christmas jam jams if he does arrive early. And if you wait until just before christmas they may all be sold out.

My nephew was born on December 28, 2012 via a scheduled c-section. My mom and I both got Christmas gifts for him. We were so excited, we couldn’t wait. So I don’t think it would be bad to include him in the celebration this year. In fact, I think that would make it more fun.

missjewels: Definitely get the stocking so you can take a photo like this!
If you deliver around Christas, my guess is you’ll be too exhausted to do much, and I’m sure your friends and family will be extra generous with stuff for the baby. I would get or make the stocking for sure, though.
In my family, my aunt made our stockings for us when we were babies, and we still use them to this day. The stocking can be a treasured item 🙂

I would have a stocking for sure, in fact, I’m due in February and there’s a good chance I’ll make a stocking for this baby this Christmas.

My daughter was born on December 10, and she had a stocking. I think other folks sent her little trinkets, but we didn’t do full on presents. This year, she’ll be smothered, I’m sure!

missjewels: I’ve been in that situation (due a few days after, thought he was late) and I didn’t. I figure gifts are for the baby, and he doesn’t know what’s happening and won’t remember it, and there’s enough other things to deal with, so what’s the point? Not only do I not regret it, it didn’t even occur to me until I saw this post.

Have a stocking but fill it with stuff you already bought. Baby won’t know what’s going on. No reason to spend a bunch of extra money!

I’m due Dec. 24th and plan to buy a stocking with her name embroidered just like I have for myself and our dog(no other presents, but my FIL already said he bought her a Christmas gift). My husband has a different kind of stocking, but that was his choice. I would like to use it for newborn pictures, and even if that doesn’t happen, we will use it for years to come. I have the ones from Lands End, same ones by parents bought when I was little and still look great! (Also they are having a 30% off regularly priced items sale today…I bought the other ones I have after Christmas at a huge discount too)

missjewels: I am due Jan 10– but my first was 7 weeks early, so I am planning to possibly have a baby before Christmas. I am going to have a stocking.
Not sure about gifts or stuffers– being that I have one kid and remember how, even at nine months– he really didn’t “get” the whole Christmas gift thing….this baby will already have all new things anyway….since almost everything from DH was given away or sold.
I might put one or two toys in there– but keep it simple 🙂
I know my mom has a stocking stuffer for baby- I guess I don’t actually know if she’s planning to give it to me- for baby, or give it to baby. But I know she has at least one thing!

missjewels: I was due 1/1 and delivered 12/27. I didn’t do anything for him. I was so crabby by the end that I barely did anything to acknowledge Christmas at all!
