Just wanted to say, adorable little one!  I breastfed exclusively until 9 months and then added in formula for a combo of the two, so I can’t really answer your questions.  I will say that every baby is different, some respond really well to strict schedules and some do not, the same as adults lol.  Figure out what works for you and your baby and stick with it!

@HappyBride827:  I’m no expert since I only have a baby about the same age as yours but this is what we’ve been doing.

How many weeks is your baby? 6 weeks

Do you have a feeding schedule or feed on demand? mostly demand.  I sometimes don’t believe she’s actually hungry and is just wanting to suck, be close to me so I’ll try a few things before I cave and feed her.  But she hasn’t had a pacifier yet.  I try to just give her her hands or otherwise distract her if she just ate an hour ago or something.

How many ounces of formula? Hasn’t had formula yet.  Hoping to avoid it if it all possible.  But I usually pump 3 oz in the morning, and if she’s really cluster feeding and my nipples can’t take it anymore, I’ll sometimes break into that stash so I can be sure she’s really not hungry and give her an oz or two of expressed milk.  Has only happened twice so far.

If you go by schedule, does your baby follow schedule precisely or do you have to sometimes give pacifer or entertain until it’s feeding time: I usuallly shoot for feeding her every three hours during the day.  If it’s been less than two hours and she’s making hunger signals, I usually try to distract her.  If she’s sleeping I don’t wake her unless it’s been 4 hours or we really need to go somewhere that isn’t conducive to breastfeeding I’ll wake her and sneak it in before we get in the car for an hour or something.  At night she’s pretty random.  Sometimes every 3 hours, sometimes she’ll sleep for five and I don’t wake her.

Does your baby sleep through the night? Five hours is the max she’s slept.  Usually more like 2-4 hours at a time.

Please share your tips or feeding schedule. I think this information will help me and other new mommies. Thank you 🙂
