Get a puppy. Thats what my mom told me circa junior year of college when i wanted a baby...

Or play the SIMS and make your ideal lifestyle on the game

And i can empathize with you...I want a baby so bad sometimes...but then i remember me and FI live in a 1B/1B lol

    Hope this helps

Or just babysit the brattiest kids you know! It will at least cure you for a couple days. I am right there with you!

I agree with MrsWall2B. My FSIL has had baby fever ever since her sister popped one out about a year ago. They are nowhere near ready to have a child so we have been on the puppy kick lately.

we were TTC or NTNT (not trying not to) and my husband lost his job. All of a sudden the reality of what life would have been like had we been sucessfull freaked me out, and now I want to wait till we have some major savings.

If nothing else watch the video.

Babysit someone's kids for a weekend. We did this, and there was an explosive diaper episode.

    Problem solved.

    ;-)

@panterapeach: Especially when it gets all over her clothes, crib, and you. I'm so glad my husband used to be a nurse....this stuff doesn't phase him nearly as much as it does me!

Maybe doing some type of volunteering at a daycare or hospital around babies? Maybe if there are any women's shelters in your area that need help with childcare while their moms attend meetings? Or if you belong to some sort of religious organization maybe they need help with childcare during services?

@vistagirl: Oh man, I love that commercial. But that kid would get a stern talking to, or a good smack across the ass if it's FH we're talking about!

I agree that babysitting can help but it also can TOTALLY backfire.

We babysat my niece and nephew two weekends ago.  I taught him (3 years old) how to wink but he didn't really get it when we were there with them that weekend.  Last Friday we went to dinner with them and he sat next to me and just winked every time he looked at me.  SO ADORABLE!

FI's 11 year old brother stays with us every once in awhile for a weekend and even though he's far from being a baby, every time he leaves we look at each and say "no babies yet!" He wears us out! Kids are hard work (duh). So I second babysitting, but getting a dog helps too. They're like a starter child.

I work in the nursery/primary at church every week for 2 hours...that cures any ounce of baby fever I could ever think of having.  LOL

go to the playground section at the mall - omg disaster.  that helps me.  either that or the childrens section (or any section) of walmart.  hmmm esp past 11pm... yikes.

or research the detailed bills of pregnancy, labor/delivery and costs of healthcare & costs of having a child.  try to make a budget.. ha!

My husband and I do all the things we couldn't doifI was pregnant or we had a baby, so I eat crab, drink, go to movies, hang out with friends, eat chicken salad, eat roast beef, drink caffine, stay out late, kayak, ride my bike...you get the point. Do all the thigns your friends with kids can't do and enjoy them.

Lol, I thought you were asking about how to get rid of a baby's fever.  I was like, "Why are there fifteen replies?  Just use baby tylenol."  :)

Every time you want to purchase something "fun" take that money and put it in a jar. Every time you want to go out to a fancy place for dinner put that money in a jar and go to TGI Fridays instead. Every time you find a hole in your shoes or your comforter, take the money you'd spend on a new one and put it in a jar.

Every time you want to go see a R-rated movie, go to see a G-rated one instead.

Mommyhood is about sacrifice and putting someone else's needs before your own. You don't get Manolos if your kid's feet are growing like crazy!

Volunteer with lots of small children.  I volunteered at a women's shelter and watched the young kids while their mothers were in counseling.  Best form of birth control ever.
