The simple question is what is the difference between baby fever and nesting to YOU?
I am asking out of curiosity…and because my crazy pregnancy hormones made me a little testy after I got an e-mail from a friend. I might get a few eyerolls, but oh well. I will buck up, face the flames, and share anyhow.
My friend, who is now 28, has always wanted kids. Since the age of 19 that is all she has talked about (and I truly mean every time we have ever been together she talks babies, we have to go to the baby section, etc). Having kids has consumed her every thought. She started a tote full of baby clothes for both boys and girls, nursery items, stationary, and just a ton of other items baby related for the day she has one (or in her case she already has it in her mind which will be boys, which will be girls, how many sets of twins she will be having and what their full names will be). She wants a baby SO bad that she even said to me, at 19 years old, that if she didn’t have a baby soon she was either going to go get “knocked up” (her words, not mine) or go to a sperm bank. A few years ago she actually started researching freezing her eggs and sperm banks and how she was going to save the money to do this.
If anyone goes back in my posts, I posted a Facebook rant from her husband. He has problems of his own, MANY of them (the biggesting being drinking which is one of the reason why she doesn’t want us all hanging out–because she’s embarrassed at how he presents himself and his alcoholism), and I haven’t talked to him in probably a good 5 months.
She is making me a baby quilt, and she said her husband has been having “freak out” moments, whatever that means, about her baby obsessing. She said, “He always tells me, “You’re nesting harder than ‘the pregnant one!’ “
….First, this rubbed me the wrong way mostly because he hasn’t talked to me or seen me in 5 months so how the heck would he know, and second, to me, baby fever, which I believe what she is going through, and nesting are two completely different things.
Each has their own level of crazy, but I am not sure you can compare the two. And am I going to bring up a mighty debate with her or him over this? Absolutely not. I am not that ridiculous, but when she said he said that I kind got a little defensive in my mind. I went through a baby fever phase and it looks and feels WAY different than nesting stage I am going through right now.
Edit: I unbolded my post (apart from my main question) so no one would be confused as to what answer I was looking for with this post. Thank you to those that have defined their opinion of baby fever vesus nesting. I appreciate it 🙂
