I'm not so confident that a gate that wide would be very stable.
Keep in mind there are many reviews that state that gates mounted to the wall with hardware actually do less damage to the wall in the end than pressure mounted gates taken on and off a zillion times.
Try animal supply catalogs like Drs. Foster and Smith. I bought a really tall expandable gate a few years ago that can be wall-mounted but I use as a pressure-mounted gate, and it works great. Seems like there are more options for wider spaces in stores focused on dogs rather than babies.
Ours has a mini-door for the cats (to keep dogs out but cats in) but we'll just lock it to use in the doorway of the baby's room.

I can't seem to find a pressure mounted baby gate thats 72" long! i found one but it is wall mounted and i really dont want to be drilling holes in our wall. does anyone know of any extra wide gates? any info would be great!
