Tell me which girls name you prefer and why! DH and I are expecting and these are our top two girl names. We had one picked out, but now DH is second guessing, so I wanted to get some outside opinions.
It will be one of these two, but I’m always open to suggestions for future kids.

I like Eloise more. Just personal preference, no real reason 🙂

- Wedding: April 2013 - A court...
I like Violet more, not too fond of Elloise for some reasoN.

- Wedding: August 2008 - Toronto, ON
I used to love the name Violet and when I suggested the name to my DH he said it reminded him of the word violent, so now I can’t get that out of my head.

Love love love Violet. I want that to be on our potential names lost but FI vetoed it

Eloise is beautiful, and I am absolutely smitten with the nickname Ellie. Violet reminds me of the spoiled rotten girl in charlie and the chocolate factory who blows up like a giant blueberry…

- Wedding: July 2016 - Chateau
I was going to type exactly what dv3849 said until I read the other comments. So +1 for Eloise because of Ellie and +1 for Violet reminding me of the girl from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I think both are equally sweet. I used to teach a gorgeous kid called Eloise. Her knickname was “wheezy” though rather than Ellie! Violet is super cute too.

I like both but I voted for Eloise, have yous picked a middle name/having one? I know this is quite obvious but you could use one of these as a middle name Eloise violet? X

I picked Violet, but then I’m fairly into flower names.
I’m not super keen on Eloise, although not sure I can put my finer on why. I think when it’s written it looks a bit odd? Not sure.
You have some cute nick name options with both – if that makes a difference?! I like Vi, or Lettie for Violet.

Both are beautiful names. When I think of Eloise I think of a more playful, personality, that’s a little rambunctious. When I think of Violet, I think of a leader, queen bee sorta personality. Not in a ‘Mean Girls’ sorta way, but a powerful head turner of a woman she may grow up to be. That’s just me. Sorta a Betty and Veronica contrast (Archie Comics)
Trust yourself. You’ve felt her and I’ve heard that mums can tell a whole lot about their baby just from womb activity. So let the baby you’ve known for these months guide you. Also think of who you want her to be cause some names can be too heavy for a child, but just right for the adult they grow up to be.

Winterbride_England: We do have a middle name. We’re going with family names for the middle, otherwise I would definitely consider using one of them as a middle name.
MissLemon: Nicknames are something that are a huge consideration actually! Our front runner has been Eloise. I like the full name and my husband would want to mostly call her by a nickname, probably Ellie. I would certainly call her by a nickname occasionally, but don’t want her to be called that exclusively, especially because Ellie is so popular!
SKyAlex: thanks, that was good advice. I think it’s easy to second guess!
We are team green too, and are literally WEEKS away from baby coming, so it adds a little stress and confusion to this. I just need to go with my gut I think.

dv3849: Ha, that cracks me up! I LOVED that movie as a kid. Even though that character was a brat that doesn’t bother me for some reason, but I can see why you think of it. 🙂

SKyAlex: it’s funny you say that because I think of a spunky little girl when I hear Eloise too. Violet I don’t have as much of a strong feeling on, but I just think it’s a beautiful name.

I prefer Eloise 🙂
Maybe it’s because I named my cat Violet.
