What do you think of the name Lola Faye? I have always liked the name Lola (my grandmother had a friend named Lola & I always adored her). DH’s grandmother’s name is Faye, so we are honoring her. What do you think? Should ‘Lola’ be a nickname, or is it OK to stand alone? I think I like it, but I can’t tell!

I prefer Lola as a nickname. For me i’m not sure its strong enough to stand on its own. Just my opinion though. I like giving children options with their names.

Our friends named their baby Lola and most people thought it was odd. I think its a cute name! To me Lola Faye doesn’t really flow well though.

@Swizzle: In general, I agree! I’m having a hard time coming up with something that Lola could be short for. When I searched it, I found Lolita and Dolores, neither of which I like. Somewhere else suggested Charlotte, but I think if I named a child Charlotte I’d be more likely to call her Charli. Hmm..

My friend has a dog named Lola, and that’s all I think of when I hear the name. Sorry!

My cousin’s daughter is named Lola. She’s 3 or 4 now, and it still hasn’t grown on me.

@LGenz: I know, I’m struggling with it. When I say it aloud, I feel like I should say it in a really country/redneck accent! Haha. What did your friend use as a middle name?

@abbie017: Haha I used to know a dog named Lola too!! :/

I don’t think it flows well. Maybe if you pick a different middle name, it’ll make Lola more appealing?

I don’t love Lola but I don’t hate it either. But I definitely don’t think it goes with Faye.
I agree with a PP that I think it would be better as a nickname, but I don’t really know what it would be a good nickname for.

I like them both, but I prefer Lola as a nickname and don’t think they flow particularly well. Much as it shouldn’t make a difference, a ‘Lola’ may not be taken particularly seriously in some professions. A friend of a friend has real problems trying to be taken seriously as a doctor, both by colleagues and patients, just because of her name.

love the name Lola, my sisters name is Nola which is very similar and loads of people comment on it being unusual and nice! Heard Lola mentioned again recently and thought ‘ohhh, i’d love a baby called that’… faye is lovely too!

Lorelei, with the nickname Lola?
Lola May/Mae flows better than Faye.
