@Cory_loves_this_girl:  Flowers or a garden theme? Butterflys, Alice in Wonderland? Carnival, circus or state fair theme? Nursery rhymes? Winnie the pooh?

Some possible theme ideas:

Mad Hatter/Alice in Wonderland

A book theme (I adore the cute little owls, that could make an adorable theme!)

Dr. Suess

Belle Petite Fille (could do with a totally different color scheme like purple or turquoise or yellow!)

Polka Dots

Sugar, Spice & Everything Nice

I love this an idea for an ‘activity’… Provide craft materials for everyone to make a headband/hair accessory for the new baby girl!

Pinterest search baby shower for girl or stuff along those lines. There are tons of not so cliche types of shower themes. Some include pink but you could always go for neuteral tones or maybe purples or teals or yellow/grey.

Do you have a theme for the nursery chosen yet? It’s a good idea to make them the same so you can use some of the fun party props in the nursery…

We’re doing gold and pink for my SIL. And then we’re going to have hot air balloons, kites, birds or pinwheels. Or some combination of those. It depends on what we find. I want it to be very dreamy and original =)

@allyouneedislove:  I love the “build a library” idea so much!! And the invitation is awesome.

I agree that build-a-library is a pretty good idea. Also really liking the polka dots and the Alice in Wonderland theme! Beatrix Potter is another cute one.

Every baby shower I have been to has the bedding choice as the theme.  So with my daughter I chose a ladybug pattern and the people who hosted my shower went all out with a ladybug theme.  I thought that was just the thing to do – use the bedding for the theme!

Polka Dots?

Stripes? Or that chevron… you could do it for the linens, the plates and cups, etc.

A candy theme with a candy table, lots of cupcakes, etc.

You don’t even have to have a theme.  Non of my showers did.  Just a color scheme.

Mine was “sugar and spice and everything nice – thats what girls are made of”

Invites said that  and we had various other things with the same logo – a candy ba with little bags with a sticker that had that same logo/saying for them to take candy to go, a headband making area, spice cupcakes, and the centerpieces were mason jars filled with candy and then flowers.   They passed around different things filled with candy and had you guess how much was in theree…

It was cute!
