I was sitting here saying them out aloud and Ithink Jacobi Parker flows better... And I voted BEFORE I read the meaning behind the name :)
ETA: BTW maiden name as a middle name is a cute idea - I wanna do it too when I have my kids, my surname is a commonish boys name in America anyway (not so much here in Australia) I figure it is a nice way to honour my dad by using his surname :)
@ShellVee: Thanks! I was very emotional about giving up my maiden name because I LOVED it so much. I think it actually upset my husband how hard it was for me. So I guess selfishly I want to name my son after myself too ;) And if we have another boy someday, I probably won't give up my battle of having a son with my maiden name as his first name ;) hahah.
but either way, his middle name will have family meaning so I will be okay with either.
@miss-spunkin: JACOBI PARKER!!!!!! Mostly because of the maiden name thing. I will be naming my firstborn son Anderson after my maiden name. Or is there an option to name your second son's first name Parker?
@andersonsarah: I might do both ;) I love Parker as a first name as well, for some reason my DH was really against it for the longest time. He is acclimating to the idea now, but we already chose Jacobi, so I'm thinking for DS#2 (if there is one), we'll do Parker as a first name, regardless of whether Jacobi's middle name is Parker or not.
I agree, Jacobi Parker flows better. But if you're planning Parker as your 2nd son's first name, then maybe stick to Daniel. How many children are you planning to have ... in case your 2nd isn't a boy then it can take awhile
BTW, I really like the name Parker. According to my Baby Name book, it's the kind of name that's really caught on in popularity and there's that sentimental aspect to it as well - it's really nice!
Jacobi Parker sounds better because they are both more modern sounding I think. I think it would be strange give a first name to a child that was my maiden name, but that's just me.
@Vitsippa: My little brother is named after my older brother and he was THRILLED when he read the birth certificate, so I have absolutely no qualms about one son having the same first name as the other's middle name.
As for number of kids, we are totally undecided. Probably 3 or 4?
Ok, so when we were deciding on baby #1's name, I said I wanted him/her to have a family middle name. My husband was against the idea at first. I finally convinced him of it, citing that the baby is automatically getting Hubby's LAST name. Don't I get something? I like Parker better regardless. Good luck convincing your husband!
I love the mixture of an older and a more modern name, so Jacobi Parker gets my vote.
Both Jacobi and Daniel are both pretty old/classic names, so the names together don't have as much personality as Jacobi Parker. If that makes sense at all to you...
@candicemcc: That is another great argument! I told my husband that I'm the one who will have scars on my stomach for the rest of my life from making this child, I should have sole naming rights! He just laughed at me. (sighs) it was worth a shot! ;)
Who came up with Jacobi? Then the other person can get the middle name this round. :)
I voted Jacobi Parker for a few reasons.
I like that it's your maiden name. Remind DH that his son will already have his name forever - HIS last name.
Also, Jacobi Parker flows so much better.
And I want to add: It was really hard for me to say that! My maiden is Daniel! haha!
@AmeliaBedelia: haha! That's awesome, well I definitely LIKE the name Daniel, that's not really the issue here ;)
@regberadaisy: We kind of both did... so that won't work lol
@miss-spunkin: Oh no, I just meant that it was obviously purely objective since I skipped my maiden. ;) Gives me credibility. haha.
@AmeliaBedelia: haha yes it does, I'll be sure to pass along your message to my husband ;)
I was about equal until you said that Parker was your maiden name. It seems like a great way to preserve your family name while stilling having the first name you both want for your child!
Jacobi Parker. I want to name future kids after my madien name to but Fh is not having it.
Love the name Parker!! Jacobi Parker is soo cute!!
I hope you win!! ;)
Congratulations!!
@MadTownGirl: haha I did :( My son is now one month old, and he is Jacobi Parker :)

My husband and I have chosen the baby's name and L-O-V-E it! We are at odds with the middle name though.
I originally wanted to name the baby Parker after my maiden name, but DH vetoed it. So I want it at least as a middle name.
But he is set on having the baby named after him. haha.
which do you like better? (btw he LOVES these polls and takes them very seriously ;))
Either way, if we have another son someday, he'll probably get the other name.
