I am an Anne. And I was the only one growing up in all of my classes. It’s a great, classic name.

Also, Anne hasn’t been popular since the early 1900s even though it’s a fairly common middle name.

I voted Alice, but I’ve got to say that the rest of the names are not my taste at all. They just seem very outdated. I like Charlotte and Violet though, but I’m with you on popularity – I probably wouldn’t choose a name from the top 100!

wait, so are you asking us so you can name her whichever one we decide is the LEAST popular, so there is less chance she will share the name, lol?!

Any of them except Florence. Not a fan of that one. Although that might be the best guarantee of unpopularity …

@awakeanddreaming:  one thing to think about – while WE (our generation) might view a lot of the names listed as “old” or “outdated” because we know they were popular for our parents and grandparents, I’m not sure that our children’s generations will hear them as such. Most likely, people in our children’s generations wont know ANYONE with some of the names that currently sound “old,” so in 30 years, it might actually be a cool-sounding name!

I voted Alice, but I also very much like Cecily.  I wouldn’t worry about the top-voted names equating to popularity in the overall population.  I feel like your post clearly indicates that you’re looking for nice sounding and NOT so popular.  I think those names are classic, pretty, but not overly common.

My favorite is Alice, but it ranked at #127 on the name charts in 2012 and it’s rising in popularity, so my vote goes to Cecily which didn’t rank in 2012 at all.

That being said, the most popular names today are only given to a small percentage of babies as compared to the percentage of top names used in previous decades. So as long as you don’t choose something in the top ten you probably won’t run into too many children with the same name as your daughter.
