Throwing some names out there - let me know what you think!  Last name is one syllable, starts with S.

Ericson makes me think of the telecom company Ericsson.

I'm not sure I love Sequoia for a girl, because Sequoias are really big, fat trees... I mean, there's a lot that's wonderful and beautiful about them, of course, but I'm just thinking it might backfire.

I like Harrison and Lila. If you name your son River, he has to be hot to pull it off. :-) Cedar I'm not so hot on, but if it's your style, it's cool. It's easy to spell and pronounce.

Sequoias are beautiful, but for the rest if her life she will have to spell it multiple times, for everyone, and they will still get it wrong. Shame, too, I like the way it sounds.

I like Harrison and Lila the best, but I do wonder if Harrison will flow well with an "S" last name.

I like Harrison and Lila the best.  But I have to ask - are you a Dexter fan by any chance?

I chose Harrison because it sounds like a strong man's name.  I also picked River I've always liked that name for a boy.  No offense but I have never heard of Cedar for a name and it think its a little out there.  Plus when I saw "Cedar" next to "River" in the choices I had to chuckle because I live next to the Cedar River :).

For girl I do like the name Sequoia but I think its a little too popular and overdone.  In my daughters class there are like 3 Sequoia's and they go to a small school, only one class of 1st graders and there's like 20 in the class.  So I chose Lila which I love and is close to the name Layla which I want to name my next girl (not that we're having anymore but you never know :) ).

I'm a huge fan of nicknames (I don't have one and always wanted one) so I wish your names had good nickname potential. River, Cedar and Sequoia all sound a bit hippy, IMO.

I liked Harrison and Lila the best.

Lila is a book I have by Roberty Pirsig.  So... yeah.

I like Harrison- I think it is a wonderful, very strong name.  I also like Cedar- but for a girl.  (I know a girl/ woman named Cedar, but DH did know a guy named Cedar growing up.)

Thank you for the feedback!  Definately gave me some food for thought.  It seems that there are some definate names on here that are more liked than others - it's not even close =-)

@sarahbabs:  I have never seen Dexter, but I assume one of the names listed is in that show?

@NurseMandie:  That's interesting, I've never met anyone named Sequoia!

I'm sorry. I don't really like any of them. The closest one to "normal" for me is Harrison because it's Dexter's son's name. I'm not into unique names though.

@ms-lovestruck:  Actually, BOTH of the frontrunners are!  Harrison is Dexter's son's name, and Lila was a complicated love interest in Season 2 :)

@sarahbabs:  I was thinking the same thing when I saw those names in there "Are they Dexter fans" lol.  We are Dexter fans and True Blood fans.  We got 2 kittens last year around Halloween and named one Sookie and the other Morgan.  We thought both were girls but Morgan turned out to be a boy :-o.  I was all for keeping the name Morgan but FI daughter changed his name to Dexter :-D

Definitely Lila for a girl.  Divided between Harrison and Ericson for a boy but not sure how they would sound with an "S" last name since both names end with an "s" word.  Might be too rhymey or sing-songey to say together.  I really like both names alone though so I didn't vote on a boy name.
