You really don't need to baby proof until the baby is about 6 months old... and then you'll need to do it in about 3.5 minutes because the baby will all of a sudden figure out 100 new things. Cecilia may not crawl yet, but she's standing without support for short bursts of time and learning how to scoot on her butt or just divebomb things she wants.
So yeah, we baby proofed this last friday... gates, corner pads, outlet covers etc. Our fridge comes with a safety lock to lock her out!
Well, the girls couldn't open the fridge door until they were a bit older, so at that point we just baby gated off the kitchen. Outside that, the only thing that is baby proofed is the electrical sockets.

My husband and I just started thinking about baby proofing. We are 21 weeks pregnant and I've heard different ideas/options about when to baby proof. When did you/will you baby proof? What baby proofing items did you buy? What worked well and what did not?
Here is my list so far:
*toliet lock
*double door fridge gaurd
*gummi crib rail
*fire escape ladder
*door knob covers
*lazy susan latch
*drawer and cabinet spring latch
*deluxe cabinet lock
*safety caps for stove
*corner cushions for counters/tables/etc
*oven lock
*sliding door lock
*safety caps
