Omg I read this as like shopping for babies blackmarket, LOL! Don't buy your babies online! ROFL! Ummm I would say if you were going to buy a breastpump off CL I would sterilize it a million times. Items that personal are a little squeamish to me unless it's from a family member or close friend.
I would say it depends on the pump. A lot of the pieces that you would need/want to sterilize I would just buy new so there is no question of hygeine issues. I did this with the pump my sister gave me (Medela). Granted, with purchasing all of those pieces it may offset the cost savings of buying on CL.

I thought you could by new tubing and personal parts for pumps and that it was recommended that you do that even if you're getting it from your sister or whatever. If that's the case, I'd be all about it!
All pumps have a disclaimer on them saying that they are only to be used be one person. Yes you can get new tubing etc but what I have read says that bacteria can actually get in the pump itself.
If you are going to be a SAHM then I will tell you that the Medela manual pump is awesome and is only $40. If you are going to be a working mom, then unfortunately I would really recommend breaking down and spending the money on a new pump. It seems like a lot but you will save that and tons more over what you would spend on formula.
Definitely depends on the pump. If it's a manual pump that can be sterilized, then it's fine. If it's an electric pump, it has to be a closed system pump (Ameda Purely Yours, Aven Isis IQ, etc) and you should buy a new kit. I'm planning to buy a pump used to save some money, and have been checking out ebay and craigslist.
I'm planning on being a SAHM, but looking into this Medela pump, so it's not a manual pump.

I think it has gotten pretty popular to shop for baby items on Craigslist, but I was wondering, would any of you buy a breast pump of CL?
