Sounds cute overall! Maybe find a way to incorporate some more colors (so they don't get entirely green gifts)? I recently attended a gender-neutral baby shower, and their "theme" colors were green and beige. To be honest, I could have done without the beige. But what about bringing in yellow (for the stars?) so they could have some bright colors too!
I think you are on to something. I do agree with Gemstone on bringing in colors. Just because the theme is gender neutral, you don't have to stop at green and / or beige. If you pick out the right shades of blue or other colors you will find they be just as gender neutral.
Let us know what you come up with.
I don't know much about my shower but I did request a Candyland theme and that was when I didn't know the gender. I thought it was great because my hostesses can incorporate many colors without swaying towards one gender.
Yellow and green are generally considered the gender neutral colors.
Maybe a diaper cake in yellow, or with yellow star accents and a bear on top?
Jungle themes are pretty easy to go with for gender neutral, because you have yellow lions and giraffes, and black and white zebras, and grey elephants and hippos. Mostly everything in a jungle theme is a gender neutral color.
But the bear thing is cute! And it's gender neutral I think.
Oh yeah, I'm doing a three tier diaper cake, one layer is green, one is yellow and one layer is teal.
It's definitely not going to be all green, and especially not beige and green :)
With all the thought you are putting into this, I'm sure it's going to turn out great!
I love the baby green / yellow combo.. so cute! And you could really do a lot with the "wish upon a star" theme. I think classic teddy bears would be cute.. or you could throw in a story book animal like..
The Velveteen Rabbit, Classic Pooh, Peter Rabbit, Mother Goose, Corduroy, Paddington, Curious George, Guess How Much I Love You, etc..
I'm in love with the "Guess How Much I Love You" Bunnies, but since you are planning teddy bears I think Paddington or Corduroy would be super cute too :) Also, kids books are a great shower gift and could be used as decor.

For all you lovely pregnant and mommy bees, I have a question.
I'm planning a baby shower for my friend, she would like gender neutral theme.
What do you think of this idea?
Teddy bears and shooting stars? Shades of green would be the accent colors.
I've never planned one of these so I'm going blind. Hideous or not?
I thought we could have for the cake, a shooting star with a bear riding it. Shooting star cookies and teddy bear cookies.
Invitations, green gingham with bears holding a shooting star.
etc etc etc...
Thoughts?
