I recently bought this dress from Motherhood and will probably end up wearing it at my shower also in August (I'll be 35 weeks!) I'm staying away from short stuff since my ankles are swollen and I think they look gross :(
As strange as it sounds, check zappos.com. They usually have a random assortment of maternity clothes, including Olian and Maternal America stuff. And it's free shipping both ways, so you aren't out any money if you have to return something.
I don't know if you have a Burlington Coat Factory with a Baby Depot near you, but they have a lot of really cute maternity clothes for reasonable prices. I bought some cute dresses from there for our first anniversary; I don't think I have any pictures on this computer, though...
I just got this maxi dress from Forever21 for my shower (I'll be 35 weeks). It's not maternity, but since it's got an empire waist and it's very flowy it totally accomodates my belly! Plus, I can keep wearing it even after the baby gets here.

I bought a dress at a consignment shop. I'm glad I did b/c I really only wore it that one time during my whole pregnancy, so I didn't want to spend a ton of money on it.

Do you have a Motherhood store near ya? That's where I got my dress. I looked for it on the site but it's gone now. I wanted something long to hide in but casual and they had a bunch to choose from that ranged from $30-$40. I was so happy it was inexpensive and I could wear it to work. Long dresses are my favorite thing in this world to wear! And you'll want to be comfortable for your shower. I've had friends that buy dresses soley because they're cute and by the end of the shower they want to rip the thing off. Doesn't get more comfy than a long thin dress :)
@artbee: Your husband's face looks like it's about to crack if he smiles any harder. :) And you look great in that dress! Purple is a good color for you.
@Mrs. Spring: It was a fun day for him! We were at a minor league baseball game and he got to throw out the first pitch so he was excited! And it was great having him be so involved and get to have part of the shower be all about him since obviously all everybody wanted to see was my belly.
I just went through the same thing. I couldn't find anything I loved at motherhood. I looked at some consignment stores. I searched the internet. I finally ordered 3 dresses off Amazon and will be returning two of them. The one I wore is pictured below. It is made by a Jules and Jim...I think it is Canadian.

Asos.com has some great ones.

I've gotten probably half of my maternity clothes on ebay. You have to do some searching through the junk, but there are always some good finds. I just bought a dress for my shower this week. It was a new with tags Motherhood Maternity dress - with shipping it cost me $8!
