This sums up my last 4 days! It’s been quite a stressful adventure that landed me in the ER last night.
First lets start with the good. My baby shower was on Sunday and lots of our friends and family showed up to celebrate our little baby. The big event was one of the prizes from the game was an ultra sound pic revealing the babies gender and name. My bff won and got to announce it and was very excited. The theme was “Mom to Bee”
This is what the invitation looked like
We made bee cake pops for the tables
We used some craft paper for the runners and gave little jars of honey as the favor
and here I am with the best group of friends a girl could ever have 🙂
They are the best because right after my baby shower, they all helped us move into our new home. They also ran around the house for 3 hours while the guys moved the big stuff around bleaching and cleaning every surface and made me sit outside on the porch. I love these girls.
Our house is still a giant mess, as my husband actually also started a new job the very next day! We were joking about how this was the craziest 2 days of our lives and were looking forward to things calming down.
Unfortuantley, that was not the case. We found out the next day that my Grandmother passed away. She had been very sick and in and out of the icu and comas. I was happy to hear her suffering is over. Of course, death brings can bring out the worst in people and my father’s sisters immediately started arguing, before her body was even cold. I got very upset and began to take charge. However, my Grandmother is down south. I had my regular doc appt for the next morning and was planning to ask for permission to travel. (At 34 weeks you normally should be able to)
I went into the doctors and the nurse said my blood pressure was “a little elevated” as she walked out. I thought to myself it was probably just stress. When my midwife came in she said, “Your face looks swollen”. I told her I hadn’t had time to look in the mirror in days. I watched her do the normal things, measure me (I’m still measuring huge for those who read that post, but the baby and my fluid levels are great so no concerns) and then she took my blood pressure again. She told me it was 156/109!!!! What! She was concerned that I may be developing preeclampsia. Then I had a non-stress test in the office, but the baby was great and so there was no concern about him. They took my blood pressure 3 more times and as I was leaving it had come down to 139/90, which is still high, but not as much of a concern. They sent me to have lab work to test.
They also put me on bed rest. Which stinks! I have to go back every 2 days to have my blood pressure taken. They want to watch it, because it could just be stress related.
Last night I was laying in bed as advised and I got the most painful tightening in my chest. I thought my heart was going to explode. The pain was so great that I couldn’t even call out to my husband. It was very scarey. I finally got his name out one time and he came running up the stairs. Needless to say I ended up in the emergency room. They did a million tests, and 4 hours later had really no answers. They said my EKG had some abnormalities, but the doctor then talked to me about my stress level and asked if I had been under a lot of stress lately. Well YEAH!
It’s been a crazy few days. I am now just trying to relax for the health of me and the little guy and doing everything I can to get my swelling to go away.
If you got through all this congratulations and keep your fingers crossed for me that my last 6 weeks is uneventful!
