I’ve been invited to a baby shower this weekend. Theres a registry and the gifts will be delivered to a different city where she’ll be having a baby
thing is, if i order off the registry ill feel a bit odd turning up empty handed on the day. so should i then get another gift? so she’ll have something to open on the day? or am i overthinking this? i assume getting only a gift not on the registry is just annoying
this is my first baby shower (you might have guessed hahaha)

@newname_99: I just had my shower yesterday and some people ordered off the registry the day of. They just printed out pictures of what they ordered and put them into a card, haha. it worked perfectly, as I knew what was coming and everyone got to see, and we all got to laugh at that ghetto-fabulous solution to the problem! So, that’s what I would do if I were you 🙂

@newname_99: bring a card!
I am sending part of a gift to the house since I had his name engraved & they’re not sharing w everyone. Bringing a few small things with me.

yeah, i would just print out a pic of what your ordered and put it in a card and/or you could give her something small, like some socks or bibs, and tell her the “real” gift is on its way.

@iarebridezilla: This – printing pictures
If there’s a little accessory or something you can wrap up to go with the large gift that you are shipping that is always fun. Or you can just give a rattle or something if you feel weird with just a card.

@newname_99: I second all PPs suggestions on printing a photo. A small gift to go with it is always nice too if you want her to have something to open, you could even buy a story book – inexpensive and you can never have too many books! 🙂

I agree with PPs, print a picture of the gift and put it in a small gift bag if you want her to have something to open. I am hoping a lot of people will do this for me as I’m having a shower in my home state and have no way to get big things back on the plane!

@MrsEagleEye: agreed. I’m also having a big shower back home, so we’re hoping people will ship any big items so we won’t have to travel with them.
@newname_99: I think she’ll definitely appreciate that you’re shipping the gift so she won’t have to transport it. Bringing a picture of the item, or just a cute little book would be nice too. Or if you order it far enough ahead of time and she gets it before coming to the shower, no picture is necessary since she’s already received it!

This was the case with my own registry/shower.
Most people came with a card and a note saying what they got in it. I read the gift allowed to everyone. Most people also gave a small wrapped gift like a teething ring or onsie or pacifier. The smaller things (with the exception of the clothes) were also from my registry.
