We made the shower theme match the nursery theme (elephants).

I’ve been to a few where they pick the nursery theme as the party theme. I’m helping to throw a shower now that is a woodlands/forrest theme. What kind of things do you like?

Do you know if you’re having a boy or a girl yet, or are you waiting to be surprised?

I have thrown several themed baby showers.  Everything to a “Pretty in Pink” ’80s theme, to a “Beach Baby” (complete with a sandcastle cake).  High tea is also a lot of fun (I did a Alice in Wonderland party that was held at a local tea house that was awesome!), or a spa theme if you have someone in your area that does in-home spa parties.

You can go as extravagant or as simple as your personal style allows!  Just remember to have fun!!!

I have no idea what theme my shower is going to be, but I sent my sister this site to get ideas from: http://www.hostessblog.com/  There’s a section for just baby showers, but some of the other themes are so cute and could easily be used for a baby shower.  Maybe you can pass the site along to your sister?

Ooh thanks for the links, Ladies.

Last month, my family threw me a  morning Lavender Tea party- which matches the nursery. We all wore fancy hats either brought or provided by my aunt.

Last night, my friends threw me a crazy Star Wars themed shower party, with light sabers, figurines and all. We are NOT having a boy but our last name sounds a little like one of the characters, especially when put with DD first name-to-be. So that was very original and unexpected. Even though the cake varied from the theme-it was beautiful, lavender, very girlie and matched our nursery perfectly.

We had sports for our boy. Everything was around sports and so is his room.

I’m throwing a shower for my SIL and we’re doing it in pink and brown. We’re serving cupcakes with chocolate frosting and pink sprinkles, having pink lemonade, rice krispies with pink and brown m&m’s, etc. Having a shower with just a color theme has been quite easy. I love it!

@bride21: Just like your son, this room is SUPER cute!

@MrsH1010: I LOVE high tea!  What a great idea…please post your actual pics when you have them! If you haven’t thought of stuff already, my BM had a high tea shower for her FSIL & asked all the elders to bring a teapot that hd a story…not for gifting, but for involving the moms & aunts who were coming to the party.  If you’ve got family members coming who are older, this might tie right in with your theme & give them a unique way to contribute.  Hope all goes well!
