My little guy is 7 weeks old and I am thinking about getting a swing for him. He has a rock and play that he likes ok but it would be nice to have another option when I need to put him down. Which swing would you recommend? I would like to try and find one secondhand but I want something that has a different type of motion than the rock and play. Anyone have suggestions for what their babies liked?

We have the fisher price rainforest friends deluxe cradle swing. They make it in different animals/patterns and some are cheaper than others. It it worked well for us. Can swing both different directions (front/back and side/side). Baby liked it while she fit into it. But I’d get one soon cause you’re in prime swing age right now! We used til maybe 5 months but Def the most around 6-12 weeks.

We tried every swing we could find, DS hated them! He liked the cradles that just vibrated. You might give them a try before you buy one. The American Academy of Pediatrics also says babys should not sleep for too long in a sitting position, to avoid depressing their breathing.
Also, make sure to check the recall list (https://www.safekids.org/product-recalls?gclid=Cj0KEQjwyZjKBRDu–WG9ayT_ZEBEiQApZBFuK8_gUfczSGVmTktjDE8aKIQPenb7xUOjODKHUlq8XMaAvd98P8HAQ).

My husband’s aunt gave us a fisher price deluxe take-along swing seat. My baby isn’t here yet so we have yet to try it out, but his aunt has baby triplet great nephews- her niece has 3 of them and loves it and says they are the biggest lifesave. We have a small house, so I like that it folds up small- especially because swings have a short lifespan for baby and some babies don’t’ like them (while the swing is a life saver for other babies). It can also be used as a vibrating seat if she ends up liking that better.

The Fischer price snugga bunny/puppy. On the fastest and loudest setting. It’s the only thing that would put my son to sleep besides myself!

i got the graco glider elite (on a local mom swap group)
i loved that it was a glider and then you could take the seat out to be a bouncer.

We are borrowing an Ingenuity 2-in-1 from a friend. It can lock in place when not using as a swing and the chair can vibrate. My 8-week old likes it enough, I probably get an hour or two of him enjoying it or snoozing in it a day (not always all at once though). Definitely borrow/get second hand if you can.

another vote for fisher price snug a puppy. i’m dreading the day my son outgrows it!! i chose it because it swings in both directions (side to side OR front to back) and your little one might prefer one over the other. sometimes when my son is fussing we just switch direction and i swear he is confused and falls asleep!! hands down the best thing we own.
