Anyone have a monitor that they absolutely love?
Features that you love on yours/ wish yours had?
Price range of your monitor?
… Did you get a monitor that you absolutely hated and returned?
Doing research for my registry and its a bit overwhelming with all of the options out there.

We got a Motorola from BRU. It was highly recommended by friends and our Baby Bargains book. It does ptz, night vision, and I like the handheld piece/screen. It cost $200 full price, but we caught it on a sale and used gift cards to bring it way down.

Mermaid1082: Thank you! It is so hard reading online reviews. Some people rave about X monitor and then there is someone else saying it the worst thing in the world!!

We also have the motorola, but we got the more expensive version. It’s pretty much the same as the $200 one except certain things. It has two cameras instead of one and the main reason I wanted that version is because it had a temperature indicator so we know what the temp is in the baby’s room. I really wanted to be able to check if the room was too warm or too cold. It’s $300 full price but we ended up getting it for $200

I bought a security camera for $60 and hooked it up to my phone and my computer through our wireless. It works perfectly and was cheap. Let me know if you’d like details.

blondie_bride: We have The first years talk and soothe video baby monitor. It was a gift from our baby shower and cost 100 bucks at Target. I really love it! Given that my baby isn’t here yet so I don’t know how amazing the night vision is yet. But the sound is great and so it the picture.

Jess1483: does it transmit sound for you?
we live in a ranch-style house, so we’re more concerned that if we hear a noise that we can check via video to make sure everything is still ok… plus when we’re in the basement/ outside it’d be nice to check in during naptime without disrupting sleep.

We have the Infant Optics DXR-5. We got it for around $90 on amazon, and it regularly sells for $170.
I really like it because it has night vision, and mutes itself unless the sound reaches a certain level in the room so you don’t have white noise playing all the time. I would recommend it.

blondie_bride: Yes, you can hear the baby and also talk over the monitor. The night pictures is great, too.
Here’s the info:
(She gives both instructions and a link to the camera she (and I) used on amazon. Don’t be thrown off by how long the instructions are…it only took 10-15 minutes.)
And my dude at night:
Hope it helps!

Jess1483: omg, how awesome. thank you for that amazing site too!!! definitely going to look into this. I know DH was interested in something he could check in on while he’s at work, or if we were to do a date night, etc.

blondie_bride: We haven’t hooked it up to be able to look in on him when we’re out of the house (right now we have to be within our wireless range), but I think it’s theoretically possible. You’d have to do a bit more digging to make sure you can do it.
We just did it because I’m cheap, and at the time I bought it, I wasn’t really convinced I needed it (we didn’t use the video monitor until maybe 7 or 8 months). As kiddo has gotten older, I’ve been VERY glad to have it.
