I LOVE this. I've seen a couple videos here and there and it's my favorite thing ever. SO cute!
One of DH's friends did this, and now he wants to do it too... or something similar. I could care less... I just want the doctor to tell me right away at the appointmet. I'm super impatient, and the idea of waiting for someone to bake me a cake just sounds like a lot of extra work. But since DH is so into the idea, maybe we'll end up doing it.
That was adorable!!! I really want DH and I to know before anyone else though. We want to do something similar though, get cupcakes with pink or blue frosting in the middle, to let everyone else in on it :)
I think this is so cute! I saw one video where they cut into the cake and it was WHITE! The baker had messed up! It was hilarious!
I worked at a cupcake shop where we did this for a baby shower! We filled the cupcakes with blue cream (for a boy!) and they all bit into them at the same time for the reveal! Our baker was so nervous she was going to let it slip when they came to pick up the cupcakes!
That's awesome! I've never seen that before!!! I'm not sure I could bare the suspense, I'm such a nosy parker!
Yup, love this idea. I am already planning to do this when I get pregnant. I hope to do this at baby shower.
We are doing it because we live so far away from family and friends that it would be a great way for them to have the chance to be involved and also share our excitement when we find out the gender.
We just did this for my sister except instead of the cake, I made cookies. It was very cool because everyone got to bite in at the same time.

My first thought was that sex cakes are very inappropriate for babies. . . but then I read it correctly. :)
@Lindsay12.31.2010:O. M. G. I almost want to ask the baker to make it white. I don't want to know but my hubby will want to know.
@Talishazwi:What did you put in to the middle?
Cute idea! We surprised our family with a cake with our due date on it when we let them know we were preggo! Love the cake idea. Cute! We use cakes for everything now. It started when we surprised our Matron of honor and best man with it and our last one was Godmother and Godfather! :)
@PasteMoo:The middle is a cake pop. I followed the instructions on this site.
If anyone ends up doing them, message me for tips.
@MUI831: I understood what the title meant right away, but still made me giggle. baby sex cakes? lol
We had a friend do that! Except she thought she was only having one baby but the Dr realized there were two in there and went along with their plan. He printed out two pictures and sealed them in an evelope and gave them to the parents to give to a baker who, put one layer pink and one blue. Our friends were really confused until they opened the envelope and saw TWO babies! How the Dr. didn't know beforehand... I don't know. But it was awesome to see their reaction to not just the gender but the fact that they were going to get DOUBLE the trouble!
I just saw this on pintrest the other day, but they did it with cupcakes

@Ms Hedgehog: Oh wow...now that's a surpise!!
@MUI831: "Baby's Sex Cake Reveal" sounds like a pretty awesome burlesque show or something.
@Beluga: I'd kind of kill to go see that...it would for sure bring the luls.
These ideas are all really cute, btw!
We fell in love with this idea a few months before we were TTC, and I still think its a go. I'd really like to wait to find out, but I know my husband wouldn't make it, so I think this is a great way to make the occasion feel momentous.
Awwww, this is so cute. I think that I might have to do this for my parents. Sneak and order a cake to be sent to them back in the states.
I'm so doing this!
I so want to do this for my next baby! Maybe with cupcakes instead I'm not a big cake person.
@cvbee: Yes, my FI and I decided a few months ago that we were going to do this when we get pregnant (hopefully next year).... Except we will not wait until the baby shower because we prefer gender specific gifts....so we will do it around the 7month mark at a family event (thanksgiving, a cookout, etc...)... the idea sounds REALLY fun and we cannot wait... THE SUSPENSE is going to kill US, lol...
I've always thought this was really cute! But I would want for DH and I to know right away but use a cake to reveal the gender to family and friends at the shower.
So cute!! The videos are just adorable because they are so excited!!
OMG! This is SO CUTE. Love this idea and every variation of it!
@Mrs.KMM: I think we'd do it this way too. I can't stand not knowing stuff, but I would want to surprise everyone else!
My friend did this too and it was so cute! But the funny thing was the tech wrote she was having a girl and a few months later they found out it was a boy!
@MissDareDevil: We had polled everyone first, and it was girl 15 to boy 4, so everyone was cheering but cheering in a 'what a surprise!' kind of way. And the 4 people who voted boy felt really special. Lots of cheering....I've got a pretty loud family. Lots of laughing too. Very fun! DH and I thought it was a girl, so in a way I was trying to not look upset about being wrong. Took a video of the moment and I was laughing and looking at everyone else's faces. :)
Aww that's awesome!
I have seen a special months ago on this and I loved the idea, I will do the same thing when the day comes that we plan on more children (I'll have 3 step kids under 10, lol) Will probably give the letter to my mother-n-law.
Talishazwi, Awesome cookie idea!

My friend is going to do this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=zVGcr5AESGQ
She just had her ultrasound today and asked the doctor to write down whether it is a girl or boy and then put the paper in an envelope. She is going to mail it to her sister, who is going to order the cake. All will be revealed when the family is gathered for a baby party at Thanksgiving.
Thought it was such a great idea!!!
